Angry Rubbish

Damn I'm getting fed up with the crap. If I meet whoever developed this new junk of an interface I will kick their teeth out.

What is the one thing that everyone does often when watching TV? Browse channels. So why does it take 2-10 seconds to go to the next one?

Navigation lag is terrible. Want to move to another element on the screen, woops be back in a few seconds. Want to hide the information popup, hmm Im busy so will do it in another 5-10 secs.

And dont get me started on the ugly colours and oversized fonts.

Please enter your pincode to watch movie channel 8 ???
Excuse me, I paid to watch it, but now I have to wait in line on the phone to actually watch it?
Well sir perhaps you have children that need to be protected from watching the channel? No dont have any, and even if I did I would be more likely to protect them from watching the Disney channels than the movie channels.

Yay, and now my box is stuck at a single channel showing some daft american "family" movie with seriously questionable ethics.

last time i checked movie channel 8 didnt require a pin, sky movies 9 does during the day as they put on movies that are normally meant to be on after 9pm? so they need a pin system on it to be allowed to do it. that afaik is something sky decided to do so ntl have to do it too, and i don't get where waiting in line on the phone comes into entering the pin?

I'm guessing he's bothered because he didn't put a pin on that channel, the STB has decided he did put one on and he can't watch the channel without it, so he's having to phone up to log a fault.

Me, I'd personally unplug the STB for a few minutes and try again. In all it'd mean like 15mins of your time to do that (as it takes our pace box almost 10mins sometimes to load up fully - i.e. not say "starting" at the bottom corner). The Samsung at our old house was almost flawless but we couldnt bring it with us... but don't get me started on that old chestnut

edit: Oh, and it is EXTREMELY laggy to change channel lately. Also, the STB is almost as selective in its remote signal receiving as the step-kids are with their hearing :/

Re: Rubbish

Maybe if you call NTL up about it and they could replace your set top box with a new one. Telewest did that for me and the speed of the new set top box is very good. It takes around 30 seconds to load when you switch it on and when you are browsing through channels, it switches over instantly. It might be a general fault with your set top box, but give them a call and see what they can do.
