sitecom wl-143 help

i have purchased a sitecom wireless router and connected it to my motorola cable modem via a patch cable into the lan rj45 socket in the router .the correct lights flash and i can connect to the pc and laptop and also i can connect to the config page of the router so everything works wireless but i cant get the internet. i have not selected any security and are letting the router set the ip and gateway using the set up wizard. ive tried reconnecting the usb cable and selecting ipconfig all in command promt and entering the settings but still no internet . i also linked the patch lead into the network adapter in the laptop and can access the web that way . i am using windows xp and if anybody can help i would be very gratefull ..

Have you powered the cable modem off for 30 seconds or more, then powered it on again when switching between Pc and router connection.

You can only have one device directly connected to the modam at a time, thus if you have been using USB you must disconnect than before starting to use the RJ45 port.

Re: sitecom wl-143 help

Do either your PC or your laptop have an ethernet card? Without the router, can you connect via ethernet the laptop or PC (disconnect the USB cable, and power off the modem - not just a reset). We need to establish you can get a connection with the ethernet port on the modem.

Re: sitecom wl-143 help

hmm, weird. Can you post the model of the sitecom router so we can check on the specifications, just incase there is something odd.

As an experiment, try connecting, ethernet wired the modem > router > laptop. Power off and on the whole lot to be sure of it - nothing connected via USB. Does anything work now. If it won't work, what happens if you ensure all firewalls and antivirus is disabled on the laptop?
