No Interactive Service
Firstly I do apologise if this has been brought up before (and I am sure it has as its not a new problem)
My parents and sister in law both have NTL Digital TV, they are in Eltham and New Eltham, South East London. Neither of them can access the 'Red button' interactive services. For as long as 3 years now they have been getting the 'Interactive Services Coming Soon' message.
I know they are old C&W lines but should they be able to get the interactive?
Again apologies for possibly duplicating an old post.

Re: No Interactive Service
I think they may be whats called "CR1" customers which mean they still can't get full interactive services, unfortunately I don't know when they may be upgraded, hopefully not far in the distance future

Re: No Interactive Service
Thanks Marge.
Ok after some more digging around I now realise that the cabling they have is the old Videotron cables (should have known this as my sister worked for Videotron when they were taken over by CWC)
The service they are running is as Marge correctly stated CR1 (London Videotron areas) or Bromley 1.5.
I found an old post from 2004 that discussed this, and things have obviously moved on some from then as my parents have BB (which wasnt fully available in 2004 in this area).
Any of you guys in the know have any ideas if the TV service in London SE9 area is going to be upgraded to include the CR3 service I have here in Bexley?

Re: No Interactive Service
Yes over in SE13 Lewisham is the same with no interactive services and still using CR1. What is really strange is that on NTL web site it states that the this area will be video on demand enabled in Summer 2006!!!!!!! So in 3-4 months they need to upgrade all of SE London to CR3 and intoduce VOD??? NTL will never manage it and I am only got the digital tv from them as they gave me sky sports free for 12 months last august. Will most likley move back to SKY and keep the broadband and phone!

Re: No Interactive Service
to CableForum.
The reason that a lot of the old Videotron areas were not upgraded was that they couldn't carry the return path needed for Broadband (and Interactive). NTL have since upgraded a lot of those areas, but it's possible that they just haven't upgraded the software as they are planning to introduce VOD soon.

Re: No Interactive Service
As I have discussed on another thread, I can't get cable broadband as I am in an old Videotron area (apparantly)
I have never been able to get interactive either. Any ideas when Ealing, W13 will be upgraded???

Re: No Interactive Service
Thanks for the replies guys. If they are planning on rolling out VOD to this area in '06 then maybe they'll do it ALL at the same time....very brave of them though if they do.

Re: No Interactive Service
If you're getting those then you have interactive - some areas of London weren't getting them until this year. There aren't that many channels that offer interactive, but then again I don't even use the ones that are available much - normally the same or better is available on the internet.
