Question HD- TV incompatable with latest TW STB?

I've a new Samsung LE32R41BD plugged into my outside ariel with excellent Freeview pictures & the full widescreen perspectives, but through my TW Scientific Atlanta 4200DVB the picture breaks down with motion and, worse, is "squashed" on all the widescreen settings the TV offers -no widescreen at all on all cable channels, and the colours are almost day-glow.

TW tell me the STB is incompatible with a HD-ready TV and therefore I will not get a better picture until everyone's hooked up to HD and TW give out new STB's. Your telly's the problem, mate.

The best suggestion TW offered was to get decent (Philax Thor?) SCARTS.as I didn't want to pay a further £15 a month for a picture that I already had been getting before the last TW-enforced price-hike to upgrade to digital or loose Sky Sports (6 months ago)

I'd like to find out whether this is true, and are there 1000's of people like me out there buying new digital HD Tv's and getting then saddled with a duff access to premium channels? No technical fix in prospect, sir, said the very help-less man at TW.

Oh yes please, any technical advice would be a real help too, and very much appreciated!

A far as I know, the new TV-Drive service (at an extra £10 a month) is the only way to get HD-TV feeds on TW. The same applies to Sky though (or will do when they actually release the HDTV version of Sky+)

The STB is compatible with your TV (but you won't get HD pictures without an HD STB of course). However, the one bit they did get right is that decent SCART leads will help.

It sounds like you haven't got the STB set to output widescreen pictures. Change that in the settings menu. You should also adjust the picture settings on the TV - the defaults that Samsung use are far too bright.

Bring up the TV guide, press the yellow button, select "settings", select "set widescreen format" then change it to "widescreen".

Also, while your in there, make sure the picture output is not set to composite (if it is, change it to RGB). As this will give a much better picture.

I'm not sure what settings you are using but I have an LE32R41BDX and it works fine with my pace box.
