Loss of cable

Been with NTL now for over five years up until recently the service as been fine but just lately for some reason it as started to get unreliable. Every day now between the hours of 4pm and 7pm the cable reboots itself and I lose my service it does happen out of these times but mainly between the 4pm to 7pm slot. It does come back on again but then there is no service can't connect to anything until I reboot the modem. I have been onto technical support I don't know what they did they put me on hold did a few tests and while they where doing this my connection went off for about half an hour and the problem as not been resolved. Another problem that seems to be recent in the last few months is when browsing some sites it can take over a minute to connect to a webpage even on bbc sites that have always been reliable in the past. I have been getting quiet a few time outs when uploading information to a site ie logging into bank, yahoo, posting to forums and buying stuff where imformation needs to be sent. Another problem that I have is that when using google half the links don't respond which makes researching things very tedious. Not sure if it is releavant but most of these problems started when NTL upgraded me to the 2mb service and the 10mb service started. I have have been looking at the service status page but nothing reported. I have noticed there is trend on the board from people having the same problems. By the way I am in the Coventry area. Is anyone else having the similiar problems or will I need a engineer technical didn't offer me a visit eventhou the problem doesn't seem to be getting any better. I still have the SB4100 modem which as always been very reliable. My computer is up to date with the latest virus and spyware software and nothing is being reported and I run a check every evening.

Re: Loss of cable

you said that tech support did some tests, but you didn't say what the stated was causing the problems? a PC/ home network issue or something on the ntl network?

Re: Loss of cable

Things are pointing to me to a more general network problem that NTL are not telling customers about as I have been out for the evening and quite a few people have been having the same problems allthou we all live in the Coventry area there is quiet a distance between us. We all can't be having the same problems with our PC's can we ? We are all getting the same mantra from NTL tech support at the moment. It all seems very scripted to us "blame the customers PC but don't mention we are having major network problems and not coping with demand at the moment"

When the connection bombs out what are the lights on the modem doing ???

Also what are the Modems diagnostics saying.

When it drops open up a browser to http://192.168.100.1/

Have a look at the levels, specifically downstream/upstream power levels and signal to noise ratio and also the event log and post them back here.
