Re: Ntl Hdtv Pvr(tv Drive) Any News

Last time I spoke to my Contact at NTL they said it was going start getting rolled at across the network by the end of 2006.

Main problem I think is the lack of MPEG4 Chips

Will there be any customers left? Will all those who want PVR and/or HD have moved to be Sky subscribers by then?

Re: Ntl Hdtv Pvr(tv Drive) Any News

That's the problem for ntl: to sort out. The merger seems to be an "all consuming" affair at the moment, and all these other projects such as HD, PVR and Bromley side VOD seem to have been kicked into touch because of this. The ironic thing is though, once they are implemented, they will be a good product to upsell to customers with - provided pricing isn't too steep.

Add to that the recently reported news that the TW side of the cable network is already trialling their PVR and we can see a two speed network happening after the merger is done.

I guess ntl are hoping that people will stay because of the fact that once they're with a provider (gas/water/electric etc) people don't like the bother of changing over?
