Thumbs down Further Education... the axe shall fall

Quote:
The government currently pays half the fees of further education students aged over 24, but from next year it wants them to take loans to pay the full cost.
Quote:
"Quite simply, this will result in course closures, job losses and vastly diminished opportunities for adults who need a second chance in education."
Quote:
The courses affected by the changes would be A-levels, BTecs and some apprenticeships.

"At a time of record levels of unemployment it is simply not acceptable to slash opportunity for 100,000 people."

Over 24, unemployed and need education to get a job? You'd better have a pot of cash or the abilty to take a loan.

Re: Further Education... the axe shall fall

It was inevitable considering that they have forced through higher loans for university students 18+ and abolished the EMA.

I'm also concerned at how far they may go to privatise state education..But that's a whole different thread.

Personally I might just look abroad if I were 24+ and looking to retrain.Spend the money somewhere warm and sunny.
