Clare's Law pilot scheme

A Government pilot scheme has been announced in four areas of England and Wales later.
It is named after Clare Wood, who was strangled and set on fire by her ex-boyfriend, George Appleton in 2009.
Appleton, dubbed the 'Facebook Fugitive' then went on the run before hanging himself.
Miss Wood, 36, a mother-of-one, had met Appleton on Facebook, unaware of his history of violence against women, including repeated harassment, threats and the kidnapping at knifepoint of one of his ex-girlfriends.

Any thoughts on this? ,I think it's a waste of time and fully agree with the charity Refuge

The charity made the point that most abusers were not known to the police and, where they were, legislation was already in place to give police powers to disclose information about previous convictions or charges to prevent further crime.
Sandra Horley, the charity's chief executive, said: "How many women at risk of abuse will actually use the scheme and would it make any difference to them if previous convictions were disclosed?"
She said the money should instead be spent on improving the police response to domestic violence and on keeping refuges open.

I think the bigger problem is dangerous people are allowed to be loosed upon the public by the government.
enough convictions for violence should result in life imprisonment.
