Mobile phone rates to fall
The big three mobile operators - O2, Vodafone and Everything Everywhere, which includes Orange and T-Mobile - currently charge 4.18p per minute to connect calls from other phone companies.
But this will be reduced to 2.66p next month and will fall to 0.69p by April 2014.
Mobile phone operator 3 UK can currently charge up to 4.48p per minute, slightly more than the other big operators, but its cap will fall in line with its bigger rivals from the start of next month.

I wonder if Virgin will drop their charges too?

Re: Mobile phone rates to fall
They'll be daft not to. At those rates the difference between their pricing and everyone else's would become apparent fairly quickly.
What's truly bizarre in all this is that it took the regulator to enforce it. If all the companies are charging each other termination rates, then surely they ought to have been able to reduce or abolish them together. The net benefit of them charging each other in this way must have been close to zero anyway.

sczoo, i should of thought so or virgin (on pay as you go) will not be able to remain competitive with other networks, more than likely it will change when everything everywere does

Re: Mobile phone rates to fall
Actually this will have little impact on people with a contract rate - since most contracts include calls to land lines and other cell phones.
It will only impact PAYG I guess.

Mobile phones - this is Britain remember
In any case I can't see this being all good news - the networks don't like being told to reduce rates and when they do, they simply raise charges elsewhere to compensate.
