New SIM card, keep old #?

I have just replaced my old PAYG Virgin phone with a new one which included a new SIM card and £10 airtime.

I realise that using the new SIM card in the phone will mean I have a new phone number but have £10 air time or I can use my old SIM card, keep my old number but 'lose' the £10 air time.

Is it possible to have the best of both worlds, keep my old number but still have the £10 air time from the new SIM card?

I know it may be a bit cheeky but if you don't ask you don't get ;-)

Cheers

Re: New SIM card, keep old #?

My daughter did just this... Virgin transferred the credit with no objections.

Re: New SIM card, keep old #?

I had a contract sim with £30 on it and transferred that to my other number, and have done the same with other companies.

Re: New SIM card, keep old #?

Last time I got £10 airtime, it was a till voucher, and I used the code with my old sim.

Latest upgrade, a SE C902, I got from Carphone Warehouse, and they did it as a PAYG upgrade, and I was quite surprised when I got a free £10 topup, as the lady just said I didn't have to buy a topup if she did it as an upgrade.

Thanks for the replies guys, I'll try asking Virgin if they will transfer the credit.

Carphone Warehouse said it would have to be a new account to use the airtime on the new sim.
