Linksys WRT54GS router restarts itself only when using Xbox Live

Hello guys, my Linksys WRT54GS router restarts itself randomly when I play on xbox live. My setup consists of my xbox 360 connected to the router wired and laptop connected to the router wireless. Basically when someone is one the laptop using the net and i'm playing on live, due to the traffic it just restarts itself and I end up getting lagged out of games. It's really annoying please can anyone help. Thanks.

Can you check that you have the latest firmware version installed.

Try DD-WRT instead?

WRT54GS V5.1 is supported.

Might be a complicated flash routine however, make sure you know what you're doing/have lucky talismans by your side

Hi Druchii, you're right, it is a tad complicated.

I love the 'DD-WRT V24 Special' but I'm not entirely sure if its compatible with v5.1.

Don't suppose you know?

It's not, only compatible with Routers that can do the "Full" build.
I had a Linksys WRT54G V5.1 at one point that couldn't take it for the same reason.

Thanks for the info, I'll see if I can find an router on ebay it works with.
