If i change to a new router, do i need to inform VM and tell them the MAC address of the new router?
Its just that my new router gives a new IP address and keeps dropping the connection, my old router, gives my old IP address and the connection is fine.

Just turn off/on the modem when you change router..
Assuming that you have an Ambit modem,
With both turned off, turn the power on to the modem & wait for the lights marked sync & rdy to lock, then with the ethernet cable connected, turn the power on to the router.
