I've got a few files I need to put on to DVD, when I copy them to DVD with Nero then try to play them on my DVD it won't work, do I need some encoding software to alter the file so it will play on my DVD??

Re: Encoding software

Afaik you need to use NeroVision to burn files to a DVD disk so that they play back properly.

Re: Encoding software

Buy a DVD player that supports avi/xvid and burn the files straight to CD

Re: Encoding software

I used to use TMPGEnc for that kind of stuff, it was at one point one of the best of it's kind, but there's now a few different types out there. Winavi is one of the easiest I though I thought.

Re: Encoding software

Main concept is very good and a lot quicker than some of the others mentioned and then maybe try TMPENG DVD Author to make a menu and the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS needed to burn in Nero. There are plenty of other suggestions that can be found here.
