Anyone managed to successfully merge Virgin.net and NTLworld accounts?

Hi,
I've had a Virgin.net Pay As You Go email address for nearly a decade now despite not dialling in since I got my NTL broadband three or four years ago. Since the powers that be have finally spotted that I don't dial in and closed my Virgin.net account, I wondered if anyone has managed to convince Virgin Media to merge two accounts from different departments?

You can apparently merge a Virgin.net broadband and Virgin.net dial-up account, so I don't see why you shouldn't be able to merge two accounts across the company...
