Unhappy Fault in NG19 area and a Pace box with 8888

My second VM box, a PACE 4001, lost the cable channels some time this afternoon, after powering off and on again I've now got the good old 88:88 and all led's lit error. Repeated attempts get the same thing.

According to the recorded message on 151 there's a fault in the NG19 area, which is my area.

Could the fault have lead to the box failing to reboot correctly, and if I wait until tommorrow and reboot will is it likely to fix itself, or is it a big co-incidence that my box has decided to give up the ghost when there's a general fault.

I'm going to be calling 150 tomorrow anyway, I never realised I was paying 96 quid a month until I got an all in one bill .
All of a sudden the VIP package has become very attractive.

If your box is showing 8888 there is a problem with the box itself, I'd phone and report it personally.

Last time my pace box went down with 8888 it was the box itself and had to be changed by an engineer from Telewest

Cool Re: Fault in NG19 area and a Pace box with 8888

Well, here's the result....

Left the box switched off at the plug overnight, switched it back on in the morning, still 88:88.

Phoned 151, went though the message, there still a fault in the NG19 area, kept on and went through the hold routine for 20 minutes, a few minutes later one engineer was booked for Monday. Asked too be put though to change my service to the 85 quid VIP package, was put though to the on hold music, then was cut off.

Went into town to do some shopping, came back and half way through lunch suddenly 88:88 became Err1, rebooted, one working box.

One call to 150 later and only a few minutes on hold and there's a new VIP package subscriber, with new booking for an engineer coming to replace the crappy old PACE box with my current Samsung and install a V+.

Now I hope they got my not so subtle hint (as In "Is my old Terayon Cable Modem able to do 10Mb?" that my Terayon TJ210 is not up to the 10Mb speed.

Dave.
