Re: Email repeats...and repeats...

All 5 emails have different originating times, but all copies show the same timestamp for each copy....

Screenshot of one of the repeats...

Re: Email repeats...and repeats...

Have you tried deleting the offending item from the server using webmail?

Re: Email repeats...and repeats...

Hmmm.. I've never used webmail...... and Opera is set NOT to leave mail on the server....

82 copies each now.....

---------- Post added at 14:39 ---------- Previous post was at 14:33 ----------

Just went to webmail and deleted the 5 offending emails... plus loads that should have come to me today (like notifications of this subscribed thread)..

Fingers crossed

Re: Email repeats...and repeats...

Even if your client is set to delete mail from the sever the mail will not be deleted until downloading is complete. If something stops the download partway (e.g. a very large email causing a blockage or Norton freezing up like it is wont to) then the mailbox will not be cleared so when you reconect it will start from the first message again. If this is the case deleting the offending mail works 100% of the time.

Re: Email repeats...and repeats...

Hmmm.. every copy was fully complete... and so small (under 15k as far as I can remember) that completion was almost guaranteed (no attachments either).

Deleting from webmail did the trick.... belated thanks to danielf... I got dragged-off at a tangent in real life...

Re: Email repeats...and repeats...

The problems would not be with the emails you received, but with the first one you didn't receive (e.g. email 6 out of 50 is extremely large so you would receive the frist 5 emails continuously as the 6th would never complete download). As I said, the emails do not have the be large, particularily if you have Norton installed since the formatting of some emails cause Norton to freeze and drop the connection.
