Through trial and error I've narrowed this problem down. It seems to have been caused by the fact that I had a large range of ports open on my router (10000-60000) for Bit Torrent.
Is it possible that it could affect web browsing and other services to such an extent? (MSN and email also didn't work when I had those ports open)
I've changed it to one port in that range as I guess its a security issue anyway.
