NTL Postcode Lottery - Latest
I decided to take the plunge and follow others by ringing retentions for my discount. Currently unpleased with the fact I paid £17 for sky sports 1,2,3 but dont get sky sports xtra like digital customers and no discount if I combine with family pack, and still have no timeline for digital tv upgrades.
So I rang retentions, told the guy what I wanted and he checked my package and informed me because I am on analogue the offer is unavailable, I explained that this is no fault of my own and if ntl offered me digital tv services right now I would likely be paying for sky sports 1,2,3 and be on family pack and more importantly not be asking for a discount. He agreed with me and apologised for the lack of digital services in my area, the result is I got free line rental (£10.50 ) 3 for £30 offer (because on analogue I got 2mb bb instead of 1mb bb so base tv/phone/2mb bb for £30) this was offered to me as a result of them not been able to give me a date on digital tv service upgrades and me mentioning my sister cannot even get broadband. He even took it one step further by letting me pass on my feelings to a manager and doing a telephone survey on the service. I felt he was was proffesional and excellent so told the manager that and then said my feelings on the current feeling about loyal customers having to ring up for discounts and the postcode lottery with forgotten areas.
Now I expect to be slated for this which I understand as those who get a good service as a result of living in the right area will find it hard to understand my view point, but I should explain that ntl are playing a game here, massive PR about their ongoing upgrades to further their techonology such as VOD and 10mbit BB which is a good thing, but they are not making these upgrades universal across their covered areas which I feel is a big let down and has no media coverage. Before someone shouts dont worry just move to sky there is options blah blah, I cannot move due to landlord restrictions and my sister for her own reasons BT is not an option for phone/bb and apperently BT havent got her covered for ADSL but I havent checked that myself. So if a member of the cable forum team is passing on feedback to their contact I would like them to forward my views please. Thank you.

I have always felt that it is unfair that people on analogue through no fault do not get special offers

You can also pass on your own feedback to ntl via the responsetek system

I always have felt for customers I dealt with whilst working for Ntl who lived in the LE3 area of Leicester! They really do get a raw deal, even though I have been out of Ntl for 12 months almost- the digital issue is still not sorted, even though when I worked there they were allegedly doing upgrades street by street!

Re: NTL Postcode Lottery - Latest
ye ur so rite, ive been waitin for ntl broadband for atleast 1 year now and everytime I phone up customer services some say could be either 1 month, 2 months or 3 months and others say that no information can be provided! i still dont seem to understand why ntl insists on upgrading to 10mb as soon as possible when alot of poeple cant even get any broadband service from them in there area? living in HA3 there is no broadband services and even if i switch to bt i can only get up 2mbit due to an old exchange, but still im switching my whole service soon and cutting off ntl completely its taking far too long and 2mbit broadband on a bt line is betta then nothin at all..lucky for my bro and sis everything is available in their areas!

I owed BT £60, wasn't able to pay it for just under a month.
When did pay it, broadband still wasn't working, rang them back, and they told us we had to pay a £50 deposit to restore ADSL. If I hadn't needed the net so badly, id have just left, and told them where to shove it!
I hate having to go through BT, just so i can get NTL, it's like having to pay 2 different bills for one phone line

Re: NTL Postcode Lottery - Latest
Well having had no response from the the response thing (surprise surprise) I gave simon duffy's office a go, Suggested few things about the proxies and tech support and then moved onto Leicester. She more or less admitted there is going to be no upgrade due to it not been cost efficient and everyone in the area will get 6 months notification prior to analogue shutdown when it happens, she couldnt comment if phone/broadband service would continue.
