Connection sharing dilema
Hello everyone,
I need a connection sharing software that can do the following:
- network address translation (NAT)
- filter clients based on the MAC address (phisical address)
- good monitoring
The most suitable I could find is Kerio Winroute Firewall but it allows acces to the internet based on a IP address rule.....

I think sygate Home network might do it. Why would any one want to filter by IP address? Sounds rather pointless. As there are usualy only 255 different IP addresses in the standard home ranges, it would take no time to break. Odd indeed.

Is there any reason you need software as opposed to hardware ? - most routers could do this.

Money.
I have 2 computers and I think it's cheaper to buy a software and turn one in a router.

You can get a router for around £30 these days...

I understand that the hardware solution is the best, but I'm curios, what software choices would there be?

A non-software choice. LoL. A Linux box could do this with a few scripts, it's just having the knowledge and ability to set it up
