Cool Re: problems with Ebuyer

Hi,

I use ebuyer, and always seem to have problems with it being dead slow, or timing out at least once a month.
I think its also ebuyer not just ntl connection!

Re: problems with Ebuyer

Try Changing your proxy, Ebuyer often seems flaky on certain NTL caches (like most other sites at times)

Re: problems with Ebuyer

E-Buyer does not work well with IE5 or IE55. It need IE6. Try IE6SP1 if you have not yet upgraded to it.

Angry Re: problems with Ebuyer

As an IT consultant I have used ebuyer regularly for the past 2 years of which I have used Eclipse Internet ADSL and now NTL (not by choice but due to ADSL not being available to where I moved) and now for some bizarre NTL reason I have just in the last week had HUGE problems with ebuyer.com being very slow, unbearably so. So bad I have resorted to logging into a remote windows desktop on a client's server who uses Eclipse ADSL and I can easilly browse Ebuyer from there....So it would seem that it is definately NOT and Ebuyer issue but indeed and NTL related routing problem. ARRRGHHHH! I hate NTL broadband!

Am using IE6SP1 and Firefox, with both of those browsers I get time-outs on Ebuyer so dont think that it is my browser.

there has to be something wrong with NTL not liking you to look at Ebuyer for some bizare reason...any other shop (ie www.novatech.com, www.microdirect.com and some others work perfect)

Re: problems with Ebuyer

The problem is just down to proxy settings. I am using the follwoing and it appears to have solved the problem.

Go to Start - Settings - Control Panel - Internet Options - Connection - Lan Settings, tick the proxy server box and enter the following:

Address: 200.153.112.83
Port: 80

NTL uses transparent proxies, so it's normal that you don't have one specified in your browser's settings... this has its advantages and its disadvantages. You can, however, override this setting and specify any other proxy that you would prefer to use. If you search this forum, there's a list of NTL proxies. I'll see if I can find it after I've made a cuppa
