I recently bought a Panasonic DECT. The phone has caller display but when I try to use SMS I can only receive spoken messages and if I try to send one it always comes back as FD. I contacted Panasonic and they suggested that it might be NTL to blame but I can't get any joy from their so called help line.
The panasonic DECT phones support a third party SMS feature ... this recently changed to be the BT Text service. You need to sign up with them and then you can send and receive SMS messages to your phone.
