mailbox

Your mailbox is over the high water mark.
Please delete some messages from your mailbox!

Could someone please explain this message and what do I do about it ?
I download my e-mail several times a day so why should there be a problem !

The wording is strange also, "high water mark"

Thanks for any help you can give me

Your mailbox is full. You need to delete some items from it.

If you use webmail, you can there's a box to the left of every email. Tick that for the ones you want to delete, and then press 'delete checked items' at the bottom of the page. Make sure you delete the ones with large attachments.

If you use outlook express, there is an option somewhere to delete messages from the server. As I'm on a Mac right now, I don't know where it is exactly, but I'm sure someone will be along that can tell you.

It means your account on the email server is full. You need to find the option in Outlook that will delete your messages from the server after outlook retrieves them (as it appears that outlook is leaving them on the server now). But, you will also need to delete some (or all) of the messages that are on the server now. I think (but I'm not sure) that outlook has an option to delete messages from the server after a set number of days. If you check that, you should be ok.

Re: mailbox

Thank you for that Bill, but it only tells me how to leave mail on the server which is the opposite of what I want to do, very kind of you

Re: mailbox

Untick the box that says to leave the messages on the server.

Not familiar with mailwasher, but if that is acting as a proxy then you may have to configure that instead to do the deletion (or not save).

You will still probably have to use webmail to delete what's currently there, but it should then keep clear.
