Sorry my friend but you are wrong.

The fact they are transparent is irrelevant. If you want to test it, add a local host record for a site and point it at 1.2.3.4 - you will still be able to view the site because the proxy looks at the site requested in the http request and does it's own dns look up.

Answering my own post : http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d...cache.html#ntl

Turns out I had an proxy disabled in Firefox from the last time it went pear-shaped; re-enabled it and everything seems OK - touch wood.

Cheers grubbymitts!

Try cache3-lang.server.ntli.net:8080

Those sites are working right here.

I'm in glasgow here. Yahoo sites, google and countless others are intermittently inaccessible. Lots of stupid servers not found messages too.

I THOUGHT I WAS ALONE! *sob* *sob*

Burnley & Pendle areas are naff tonight. Google times out and the kids can't get on Habbo Hotel. Some of my usual haunts are not accessible either

Edit: Can't log onto GMail either.

Well for me this and about 4 other sites i use are the only ones i can access, if i was looking for something on google i would never get 8/10 of the pages up i wanted to view.
