Last Result:
Download Speed: 186582 kbps (23322.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 16090 kbps (2011.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 6 ms

Virgin Media 200Mbps

This is about what I should be expecting on the 200Mb trial.

I consistently get between 50 and 52Mb when connected to my normal 50Mb circuit. This has been the case since I upgraded over 2 years ago now.

the above is incorrect speed test, as I have the same issue, I am getting 400Mbps speed but it's not real

Empty your browser cache. Also some security progs (eg Kaspersky) can cause it also.

Browser cache has nothing to do with it. People should stop suggesting to empty the browser cache when speedtest.net's technology already bypasses it. There's no way any browser cache would ever affect the results.

On the other hand Kaspersky (at least with any of the networking components turned on) does make your download results jump higher than they should, but does not usually affect upload.

But I do think the first guy was actually on the 200mb trial by the sounds of his post.

I had no connection this morning when I got up , but after a re-boot all round .. it seems my upload speed has been upgraded!
Smart work by the VM enginners .. considering the weather!!

Re: 50mb Broadband - Post Your Speed & Vote

The trouble is not a download speed from the UK but when you download from abroad i.e. USA, I am getting download speeds of 3.??. I have twice been left waiting on the phone to customer services and then it died and head office just tells you to complain to the very people you are complaing about.

Virgin can't guarantee or control your speed outside of their network. The USA is quite a long way outside of their network.
