Re: Close Season Transfer Rumour Mill
He won't go. Ferguson has already said he'd rather ruin his career leaving him to rot on the bench than sell him to Spain. He's that spiteful too, so I do believe him. Certainly in a battle of wills between Ronaldo and Ferguson, my money is on the bully.

Re: Close Season Transfer Rumour Mill
There's a good article in the back of today's Sun on the Ronaldo transfer saga. Quite a balanced view in all honesty and even those who dont read the Sun and have some interest in the whole saga would be recommended to read it.

Someone really does hate Ferguson lol
The fact of the matter is that he signed a new contract not even a year ago and is under contract to stay at the club for another 3 years, so really it's not Ronaldo's decision whether he wants to go or not at the moment.

And I can't see the Glaziers allowing Real to win this battle.

I think he's going to be honest. The fact that he's under contract is irrelevant really, if he doesn't want to play for Man United then they're better off getting rid of him. The threat to leave him in on the bench is just an idle one - a club who are in as much debt as Man United just can't afford to do that.

I suppose it depends on your definition of hate. I just really dislike him, personality-wise, attitude-wise, methods-wise. Its not really irrational. I know what you're saying. Its a fair point, but you've got to be a real spiteful piece of work to sabotage one of the world's best and most promising talents on principle. Its things like this that really don't endear me to him. Even if its rhetoric, its just not needed. Be profesionally and the bigger man.
As Russ (sort of) said, the comment i'm alluding to was made jointly with the Glaziers, so they also share their fair share of it, not just Ferguson (although I imagine he was a driving force in it).
I dunno if the fans will stand for it though, benching Ronaldo versus something like £45m + Sneijder can't sit well with many, even with Ferguson's record.

I don't think he's even said that he will put him in the reserves if he wants to move. All i've heard Ferguson say on the matter is that he was confident he wasn't leaving the club. If you want that to mean he will ruin his career by putting him in the reserves so be it, but i didn't read it that way, i saw it as he genuinely thought that he would want to stay at the club. Ferguson's been on holiday the past few weeks and the last interview he did was with Frost which was on ss1 and thats all he said, i don't know where this 'leave him in the reserves' stuff has come from (the sun???). If he starts demanding a move i'm sure Ferguson will see he thinks he's bigger than the club and will get rid of him.

Arsenal have landed France international Samir Nasri on a four-year deal from Ligue 1 side Marseille, according to Sky Sports News.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson says the club would rather put Cristiano Ronaldo in the stands than sell him to Real Madrid.
Ferguson has met the Glazer family, who own the club, and said: "Their attitude is 'To hell with them'. "They'd sit a player in the stand, I'm telling you, absolutely no doubt about it, just to prove a point."
Seems to be crystal clear to me what he said, even though he can't leave him to 'rot' in the reserves
United's threat to let Ronaldo 'rot' in the stands can't happen as Fifa rules state players can rip up their contracts if they don't play a certain amount of games. (Various)

What he can't pick up a phone whilst he is on holiday now, even the BBC is reporting those are his words and I doubt any other media source would want to miss quote him, what with his liking to refuse interviews

Re: Close Season Transfer Rumour Mill
Ok, thats the first time i've seen that. But thats more about Madrid and they way they have behaved rather than Ronaldo. He hasn't said he wouldn't sell him at all, just not to Madrid. And that's him saying whats the Galziers have said to him not his own words.

From my understanding, Man Utd/Ferguson don't want to sell him at all. I thought Real Madrid were the only club bidding for him (AFAIK).
I actually am loving the hypocracy of a lot of Man U fans, and the manner in which the club are reacting. It wasn't so long ago they bought Rooney, a player who Everton had invested heavily on in terms of development (Similar to what a lot of fans are saying Man U have done to Ronaldo).
I was originally on the side of Man U in terms of that that I'd hope they would take a stand, so as to discourage other players leaving a club so soon after signing long term contracts. However the more and more I hear of the hypocricy from many Utd fans I just hope Ronaldo does leave.
I'd also say Ronaldo hasnt behaved well in this matter either, never once declaring his commitment to Man Utd, or saying that the stuff thats been written quoting him is wrong.

Slightly different. What on earth was he going to win at Everton? I don't buy this rubbish about Ronaldo only winning World Player of the Year if he's at Real.
