If the majority of opinion was that it was right then it would become legal. That doesn't mean that I would change my opinion and think that murdering senior citizens is right, and I would still be (very vocally) opposed to it.

You must have misread somewhere, nowhere have I intended to imply that there are no alternatives, merely that MS use their dominant position to push their media player on people. And to play windows media files, I still have to have a copy of WMP for the codecs, and for some funny reason these days a lot of videos seem to be distributed in wmv format.

I think the reason it was first included was because of help files etc. I remember windows 95 had allot of .avi files. I just can't believe Microsoft done that either. Fancy trying to help people out. Damn those pesky buggers lol

So, hmm, you would never create your own company? If everone believed what you believed, how do you expect anyone to be able to afford food and clothes?

EXACTLY. Just because the majority says it is right doesn't mean it is.

Money would be an alien concept, as would paying for it, everyone would get everything that they needed. I do know it's just a pipe dream, but it's nice to have dreams.

Jerrek, unless you are being so subtly sarcastic with that comment that we all missed it, I am becoming worried that you are an extremist. How anyone can consider the Democratic party of the USA 'communist' is utterly beyond me.

What happens if you uninstall Media Player via add/remove windows components, install the codecs (available in lots of download locations) and use Winamp to view your WMV or WMA files?

There's no body stopping people from doing this already. I think this is the whole point.

Re: Realplayer 10 released
I would also like to point out that WMA and WMV files are great for streaming, I much prefer them to RM files.

No, the point is not that you can do it if you want, the point is that the vast majority of computer users don't know how to, and don't care - they just want what's the simplest option. The simplest option is just to stick with WMP because it's there, and the only reason it's there is because its manufacturer has an unfair advantage in that regard.
All that said, there is something to be said for M$'s own suggestion to the EU, which was rather than forcing them to remove WMP, they should have been forced to add Quicktime and Real Player.

In all honesty, that would probably be the best option. On the first run it could then ask which player you wish to use as default.

Well, under such a system, how'd you propose to reward those that work harder than others? I.e., someone putting 42 hours in a week opposed to 30 a week?

Want to talk Alger Hiss?
The Democrats of the 50s were different. Although they had the touch of the left, they meant to do good. I can see myself vote for Lieberman, who I feel that while he has the touch of the left, he is a capitalist. Today's Democrats have moved so far left that they're alienating their voter base. The likes of Dean, Chomsky, and Jesse Jackson are running the party and it has become a nest for the ultra-left communists.
There is no difference between communism and socialism except that one proposes to enslave society by force, and the other by vote.
If you want to call me an extremist, then call Reagan, Lincoln, Washington, Jefferson, Madison, and the rest of the Founding Fathers also extremists. I'm sorry, but I'm just not about to sing Marx's praises no matter how much good his intent was.

No no not Realplayer not a operating system over an operating system. What MS has done is really out of order anyway. I think everyone knows this. They spend time and money developing operating systems. Put things on there people will need to get them started. I mean just who the heck do they think they are putting this kinda stuff on there own system
On another matter I'd like to see Car manufacturer's done next. I don't like the stereo that came with mine. I don't think people should have a car stereo forced on them by the company that makes the car. Its wrong
