Re: The iPhone thread
If the phone is locked onto 02 it'll need to be jailbroken to use it on another network. Which means fiddling with it as it seems there IS a jailbreak for ios4.
Personally I'd pay the £15 and get the phone unlocked

Opps! You need to switch on Voiceover. It's OS wide. Switched it on. Can now do as the demo shows. It's not very good though, An Audiobook would be better. Useful feature to navigate around the phone though. Changes the way you interface so pressing an icon will read it and you need to double tap to open it.

No Problem. Like I said the reading is rubbish. Can't see why you would use that over audiobooks...

Because only something like %4 of books are available in audio book. Many more are converted to ebook. So the option to have it read a book out is exactly what I want. It was a choice of kindle 2 - iPad or iPod touch. Seems the iPod is the most desirable option.
I'm not bothered to the reading, although female the voice is no worse than what I have to listen to to access this forum (Think Stephen Hawking) with my screen reader

Re: The iPhone thread
for those wondering how to close apps, if there is no close button
double tap the home button, you then get a list at the bottom
hold one of the apps, and a - will appear, press the - and it will close (there will probably be loads, until they catch up on the fact home won't close them and update their apps)
and for those of you who want to itunes on multiple computers, mine wouldnt work earlier, after i upgraded (it wanted to wipe the phone) until i found this. which probably works if you want to use it on more than one computer (let's face it who doesnt have this now).

in addition to that, whilst still in the app you wish to close, hold the power button until the screen gives you the option to shut down, then release the power button and hold in the home button. after about 2 seconds, the app will close fully, instead of sitting in the background. this also applies to non-iOS4 iPhones

Re: The iPhone thread
This one's for MadGamer really....
I recalled this thread earlier where you were asking for windows live messenger for your Nokia.
I was just wondering if you knew you could get it for iPhone / iPod touch now?
Anyway it's on the app store.
I know there are others (I use beejive myself) - but this is the 'proper' one for want of a better word.
