 | Why limit it to seven - thirty days to catch though? Just record it from the linear TV broadcast and keep it as long as you want. You get no buffering issues with linear TV and you can even skip the adverts.

There is a way you can have material for up to a year (and beyond) for a monthly fee, buy the shows you want on DVD. Old series of many, many shows are pretty much dirt cheap now and for the money you spend on Now TV, you could buy (at least) a season of each respective show a month.

There is little need to rely on catch up TV or even hope a VOD provider will offer there programs for a massive amount of time.

Old shows yes, but recent seasons, not so much so...

Yeah, agreed the HBO stuff is expensive, I don't recall saying they weren't. Now tv don't just show HBO stuff though, do they? If people "generally want to be up to date", why do companies offer such extensive back catalouges of old shows? I guess Netflix is so successful because it only shows new content, oh wait, it doesn't.

			Anyone tried Amazon 4K ?
I've been thinking of subscribing again , I've tried 4K on Netflix and have been generally impressed with PQ on 4K the best example being Marco Polo however sadly the show isn't that great in my opinion.

 | I really enjoyed Marco Polo; there were two many people expecting a second GOT in my opinion! And, GOT, it wasn't meant to be.

I've read someone say that the Black List on US Netflix looks, "Jaw dropping" in 4K.

				Apple

Meanwhile, rumours are swirling around that Apple may try entering the pay-TV market spurred on by Sony's and Dish's successful content licensing deals, a previous sticking point.

I agree, it is the only option if you give a damn about the advertizers wet dream and snooze fest that is Atlantic. It is not an botheration for me. I don't need a Now TV box to stay up to date or even relatively current.

Staying up to date/relatively current was not the only point OB raised when I replied to his post, though. He mentioned about boxsets being kept for a longer time than they currently are on Now TV, I simply pointed out that he could buy any number of older shows for a similar price as the Now tv monthly subs and keep it forever. A simple solution that quickly eradicates a problem VOD providers bring.
