Wenger won't go for a few years yet. He'll retire, like Fergie.

Despite my prediction I sincerely hope Wenger stays. One less team for United to worry about then

Anybody taking over Arsene Wenger's job won't be able to do what he's done with the team. But anybody else doing so will I hope to God bring more English talent into the side instead of poaching youngsters from French clubs.

Interesting team selection, I knew Fergie would shuffle the pack, but still...

A few years ago people were saying Fergie had lost it, and United would decline. Despite a bad start for Arsenal this season the team have shown promise, it's insane to get rid of Wenger.

I think your best seasons under Wenger are long gone.
His problem is that he is such an arrogant pompous idiot that feels he knows better than anyone else.

Were you one of the United fans slagging off Fergie a few seasons ago as well then? It's not as if Wenger hasn't had a track record of recapturing a good side.
There was the first double win, then the team changed quite a bit and no trophies for a while. Then the second double winning side where we were very good for a few seasons (our 'best' so far).
I think that will return again although it's slightly more difficult this time what with Chelsea being a much better side than before as well.

Re: Football : Season 08/09
The problem with Wenger is he brings in talent from French clubs, when there's plenty in England for him to pick. It's frankly embarassing everytime I watch an Arsenal game to find so few English players in an English teams' squad.

So Arsenal haven't won a trophy in 4 years because we have too few English players? Yeah, that makes sense.
What you actually mean is; that's your problem with Wenger.
There were 2 English players in Arsenal's squad yesterday. There were 3 English players in Chelsea's squad yesterday. So i guess you're embarrassed by Chelsea too, right? And please explain why their lack of English players hasn't hampered any success, or the success of Arsenal prior to the last 4 years.

Re: Football : Season 08/09
It may well be my problem with Wenger. I just think he's a t**t.
What I object to is Arsenal and Chelsea and the like not bringing in more home talent, always looking overseas. Man Utd have more home-grown players in their squad than arguably any of the top 4, only Liverpool can probably boast more via their academy.
Chelsea have gelled as a team more than Arsenal have, and that coupled with a certain J Mourinho won them their success. Granted the Gouners have probably been hampered by injury more than most over the past few years, but you cannot expect to bring in young French talent and immediately want them to start playing as well as they had been across the channel. The environment's different. The Premier League is arguably the best in the world, but it's also the most physical.
Chelsea have more home players in their starting squad most days than Arsenal do in a year! Cole, Cole, Lampard and Terry start or are subs in most games. I count Walcott in Arsenal's squad, and that's only when he's fit. Any other home players in their squad are either out on loan, or dropped in favour of foreigners.
Personally, I can't wait for UEFA, FIFA or the Premier League to bring in a rule that mandates a minimum number of starting "home" players, subject to injury of course. Something like 3-5 home players would be an acceptable number for certainly the top 4, and definitely possible for the rest of the Premier League.
