well i just listened to the first cd in the 'Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band Live 'n' Rare' compo from Morpheus - some of it makes you cringe - some of it brings the hairs up on the back of your neck.
If you like syncopated rhythms, listen to the band & forget his voice
- but even the voice is still strangely compelling
'big eyed beans from venus' - oh my oh my

I have a friend who's a big fan of Capt. Beefheart - couldn't get into myself. Not my cup of tea.
Just listening to "Breakfast in Bed", which is just soooooo filthy
