Couldn't agree more mate , when I cancelled my TV down to M they asked why , I told them I wanted certain channels and the offer I had got , they couldn't do anything so off I went , but if you can get your package cheaper with a competitor you are right to ring , its upto VM if they retain you or not.

Re: Anyone received a offer from Virgin regarding the 500gb box
Back to the point of the 'exclusive' email from Virgin..
In my last email I recevied from Virgin with regards to the 500gb TIVO, it said that I would receive and 'exclusive' offer and code with regards to this TIVO.
I was hoping that the 'exclusive' might have meant free installation, as the email had already mentioned pricing etc. Otherwise, why mention 'exclusive' offer when details have already been given?
Also, I understand that Virgin is not a Charity - but the 'exclusive' could work the same way as the 1tb TIVO, i.e. free install covering a set period.
If it can be done for the 1tb version, it can be done for the 500gb version also.

Coming from someone on a staff deal that's a bit of a funny thing to say.

Also, we know that not everyone is on the same deal for the same package, so this means that naturally people are going to want a better deal than the one they may already have.
If the goalposts are the same for everyone, then fine, but as we know Virgin keep moving them around!

Sorry but that is besides the point If you supply a rental product - then supply/service & repair should be part of the fee. Any other way is you are "buying" the product but never own it !
Good luck to Virgin for getting away with it. I just don`t like it.

Presumably you will therefore be willing to forego your staff discount then because it could be said that customers like myself are subsidising you - no if and no buts there using your rather selective logic !
Bringing this back on to topic this whole debacle is being caused by Virgin's abysmal communication policy. If they issue one e-mail promising an exclusive offer ( and to high value paying customers ) then they really should follow it up with an informative and timeous communication.

What VM Staff pay is irrelevant as it's part of the employment package, not a threat to leave.

True but its hypocritical of some to suggest people are wrong to question their prices when a competitor is cheaper , especially when they aren't paying full , and I agree staff should have perks.

I don't see anything wrong with trying to get a better price, if you are unhappy. Some should also realise that they may already be on a good deal and anything less and they are not worth keeping as a customer.
It's the "I'm leaving unless..." that should be stopped.

I have been a customer a lot longer than I have been an employee and that is a perk of the job just the same as most other people get if they work in an industry that allows perks or discounts.
My bugbear is people who ring up and threaten to leave unless they get a good deal, they should be allowed to leave as that is very different to calling up and asking can you give me a better deal as in many cases they can.
Why should any customer have to subsidise someone who is threatening to leave unless the get a drop in price or a free install, I say call your bluff and let you cancel.

That is matching a deal not calling up and threatening to leave, they are completely different.

I so agree. If they are not happy let them cancel.
Having said that once a company gets in a loop of lowering prices its hard to stop.
Before I took over at work we had "repeat" customers always asking for lower quotes. Answer was thats the best price I can offer, quite often got- "but so an so can do it for less". My answer was go to him then ! Surprising few did. Reminds me of the old saying Joe down the road is sell it at £5 you want £6 .Well get it from Joe then. He`s sold out. Answer if I was out of stock the price would be £5 as well

All customers should be worth having and to think anything else is just arrogance, the point i was making is that nothing costs what people try to charge for it, the very fact that someone who is not the boss, or even knows the boss can give it cheaper without his say so proves that the whole equation is accounted for. Then to say people with more money than sense who stump up whatever is asked of them are subsidising people who are prepared to ask the question is propostorous... you all get it cheap yourself's...?? What you may find is what you actually get from it is loyalty, 19 years ive been a cable customer, yes i buy sky sports but get an inferior product to sky customers, yes i buy sky movies and get an inferior product to sky customers, but here i am each month handing over my hard earned... only one other person i work with (and therefor is in my wage bracket) pays for TV, no one else does, i should be congratulated and cherished even if i want a moan every now and again, because i am not buying a product, i am on a rolling rental and as such except the service level of a rental customer... i dont own any of it, why should i pay an upfront fee of £190 when i dont own it, it has no resaleable value to me.

\don't want to fall outover this & appreciate the input from yourself & other VM staff members on this forum. I don't have a problem with any perk that you receive either - I would just ask that you consider the use of emotive words such as "greed" in your posts.BTW I take it that you don't work in retentions !

...Forgot to add - care to comment on Virgin's abysmal marketing communications ?
