There's no doubt BSG has been exceptionally well done. It's just a pity it seems unlikely ever to be seen on FTA television where a wider audience can appreciate it. The fact that its UK audience is less than a million, while Dr Who usually gets 6-7 million, makes it hard to justify making too many direct comparisons IMO.

No, they've just been blurring the edges somewhat (imho).

Re: Battlestar Galactica - Razor & Season 4

I was/am a keen fan of the original series, for all its faults. I saw the trailer for Richard Hatch's proposed revival at Cult TV '03 (and joined in the 3-minute standing ovation it deservedly got!). So this version took a while to grow on me; I kept catching bits of it while visiting the parents at weekends, wondering what the frak was going on, and why the Cylons were either human now or of human manufacture, and why/how Starbuck became a woman (that really took some getting over!). But finally I got to watch the pilot movie in its entirety and it started making more sense.

And grow on me it did; I now have all 4 seasons on DVD. Razor was superb, I thought. Katee Sackhoff really won me over; I imagine Dirk Benedict (who I've also met at Cult TV - thoroughly nice bloke, with time aplenty for his fans) approves.

Lucy Lawless as a blonde was also a shock, but she's so gorgeous that didn't take as long to subside.

One thing I love, being a keen modelmaker, is the constant nods to the original series re the ships in the fleet - Colonial Movers (We Move Anywhere), for example, or the livery ship (now a mining ship) which was in fact 3 empty movie reels stuck together and dressed up with detail. And the Viper II - even better-looking than the original. More raked-back, sleeker, beautiful!

I loved Nicki Cline (Callandra [Cally] Tyrol nee Henderson) - she was so cute. And feisty, too ("Hey, Cally, is it true you bit the guy's ear off?" "He's lucky that's all I bit off!" - excellent!). The characters are all so well-drawn; few cliches. Roll on the last season, and here's hoping they can somehow bring it to the big screen. Maybe do a prequel showing the First Cylon War? We can but hope.

Oh, almost forgot: someone mentioned Tigh and Six earlier - hasn't it occurred to anyone that maybe he didn't get it on with her, and that the baby is in fact Baltar's? Remember his frequent menages a trois on the Cylon baseship with Six and D'Anna (hoo, there's a mental image for you - Tricia Helfer and Lucy Lawless in the same bed! Rowf!)?

And hey, what about Nick (Cally's and Galen's son)? He's half-Cylon, too...

Re: Battlestar Galactica - Razor & Season 4

Is it the 5th revealed???? According to the report all the remains were cylon... Also the sub plot with Starbuck is really intriguing.... (anyone remember the 1970's series with Starbuck being reincarnated by the flying saucer aliens...)... Makes you wonder who out of anyone is human

Re: Battlestar Galactica - Razor & Season 4

Yes, the Fifth *was* revealed.

RDM Interview

(SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!)

------------------------------

As it's not yet been on Sky 1...

Spoiler:

I can buy Ellen being the Fifth far more than some of the other theories such as e.g. Zack Adama.

Very shocked to see Dee shoot herself, especially after her & Lee seemed to have patched things up & appeared they may get back together.

Bill & Saul's drunken scene was great.

If Starbuck flew to Earth when she disappeared, and died, then who the frak is the Starbuck that returned to the Fleet, and where'd she get a new Viper? And Leoben got freaked out?! I don't think we've ever seen anything freak him out, LOL!

OK, so the 13th Tribe were humanoid Cylons, and found & settled Earth... so how are they connected to the current Cylons, who were originally created only a few decades ago by the Colonies? And just how are the Final Five connected to the current Cylons?

As the "Final Five" seem to have lived on Earth 2000 years ago, and then died in the nuclear war, I assume that means they had some sort of "Resurrection" tech like the current Cylons have.

Also, we know that the Final Five are meant to be special in some way compared to the normal Skinjobs, and it seems that them having children is not such a big deal (e.g. no fuss was ever made over the Chief & Cally having a kid, compared to the major event of Helo & [normal humanoid Cylon] Sharon/Athena having Hera). I'm sure it's also been said that there's only one copy of each, rather than multiple copies like with the normal ones.

...So I'm guessing Earth had a population of unique humanoid Cylons, capable of reproduction, rather than multiple copies of (generally sterile?) ones.

Somehow, Five of these Earth-based Cylons were saved from the nukes via Resurrection. Why only save Five though, or were there more?

Re: Battlestar Galactica - Razor & Season 4

So, erm...

Spoiler:
If someone created the cylons a couple of decades ago, where did the original cylons come from? Also, where did the guy who created the cylons get the idea from? The Starbuck thing is interesting... I'd like to know who was in the viper...

Re: Battlestar Galactica - Razor & Season 4

I'd like to know that too. Although I have faith that RDM will answer everything. Check the spoilered interview linked above - he will reveal stuff throughout the season.

Exclamation Re: Battlestar Galactica - Razor & Season 4

Just a warning for anyone recording the late-night run of 2 eps per night on Sky2 with a V+: it appears that there's been some sort of mix-up with the EPG for tonight - instead of BSG at 22:00 & 23:00 it's listing some sort of "24" marathon [from 21:00 to 06:00]. DigiGuide is still listing BSG, so I phoned Sky & asked which is on, & they said BSG.

Just thought I'd mention it, so that anyone else using a V+ can set it to record manually as I have.

Dirk hates it, he thinks Starbuck being a women is awful and that the whole show is unmasculine !
