They need to NOT change existing email addresses. My experience with other companies is that forcing an email change on people can be the final push that makes them change supplier, as it's often having to change addresses that puts people off.

Well that would be a strange thing to do - changing providers because you don't like a change of e-mail address. Changing providers will give you a new address anyway!!!!!

Yes, that's precisely the point.
If someone has been thinking of leaving, but the only thing stopping them is that they don't want to change email addresses, then if their current provider forces them to change it anyway, this may remove the last barrier to switching, and then they switch.

one thing is, I dont think the old standard V boxes will be fast enough or have the compatibility to support this, I don't even think that Virgin will give the standard V boxes one of the PRIMARY features of the V+HD boxes,
On the other subject I think theres a bug in the new EPG softwarein the ex-telewest network.
When watching a recording, you can NOW use the left and right arrows to navigate the mini-guide, Whenn you get to a program you like it says "Press Record or press OK to set a reminder", However when you press RECORD nothing happens at all!

oh come on Zee, it looks like we have a load of the salesman posting here today, lets face it they have had months to get this stuff in place and they cant even change the generic STB
firmware to reflect the VM gfx, ( and i'v reset the box several times today to check and clear the hung mini guide).
as for the 'ON Demand' selection , it has looked like a proof-of-concept' accountants first ever try at creating a webpage since it appeared here (C&W/NTL area)months ago.
who in 2007 wants to have to press the back button and a-to-z selections over and over, for instance to do a simple browse of the 4oD content you have something like 14 back/select key presses, and thats not including the page down/up and ? info presses JUST to see if theres anything werth watching, currently NOTHING id watch, never mind consider paying a fee for.
its just sad the way they (and some posters [VM employees?]here)hype up the change and massive spending on the advertising, and yet cant even be bothered to get a reasonable selection of gfx front ends to replace the current (as far as im concerned)'proof-of-concept' pages you as the end user can select for your prefered control options for instance.
they have had months to test and put this better control for the end users in place, and in doing so could have given people something to talk about, but they didnt, sure it might come sometime soon , but thats no excuse and everyone knows it.
this is what they are spending your hard earned cash on, fancy advertising and no practical benefits for the end user, never mind real innovation to speak of.....

Re: Happy Virgin Media day to you all
Although I have a GMail account, I'll be honest, I've had my ntlworld email account since 1999 and I think it's let me down perhaps twice.
I have had absolutely no problems with it whatsoever, and will continue to use it with confidence.

Popper, I have mentioned this a few times already. There are a few hundred thousand STBs to update. To make sure there aren't are problems the update is being split up into different areas and also by type of STB.
However today all V+ boxes got the update and any new customers installed or boxes swapped from today for either a normal V box or the V+ will have the new software already on it.
There is a lot changed already that customers may not notice eg internal stuff, but things have improved and things will get even better.

Re: Happy Virgin Media day to you all
Darth, you know the thing is with some people they are never happy with a good product always something that needs changing.
Popper, what you prefer having your old crappy NTL front or perhaps a V+ front that might still be buggy?
I know myself that I can wait for it till the bugs are sorted.
and yes there are bound to be some tiny bugs that the beta testers have missed.

"Subject to regional availability" in the channel list. In other words, nothing changes. If it wasn't available before, it won't be now.
