Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
Peter you seem to be avoiding the fact that he was talking about the 50 > 120 upgrade, i expected more of you, can you not even admit your post was misleading?
I will post the part of his link that we're all talking about which you can find at the bottom of his register link.

Subsequently, Virgin Media representatives have been back in touch to clarify matters, saying:
"Following our announcement last week that we are doubling the broadband speeds our cable customers receive, we’ve started to write to let them know how it will work and what to expect. Our first email, intended for our 100Mb customers, was accidentally sent to some customers on other tiers which may have led to some confusion.
We’re sorry for any misunderstanding and will be writing to customers again soon to clarify how the upgrade will affect them. In the meantime, as part of our double speed programme we are delighted to confirm that 50Mb customers will actually be upgraded to 120Mb, meaning even more Virgin Media customers will be able to take advantage of the fastest broadband speeds in the UK."
Some 50Mb/s customers will see an initial rise to 100Mb/s before moving up to the full whack 120Mb/s, the telco spokespersons added.

Many people got that email even on lower pasckages telling them they were getting an uplift to 100Mb and beyond and it was quickly retracted, I posted because that was one of those emails but the Register never bothered to post about the error.
I think we are looking at it from two different viewpoints hence the confusion, that article in the post is dated 16/1/2012 but nothing was posted after it by the register but people posted about it on here and the community forum.
50Mb will go first to 100Mb and eventually up to 120Mb but as for a timescale no one knows as yet.

Thankyou, now in your original post replying to him if you had put this reply we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
The OP has been edited with good info but can it not include the doubling link so those wanting to check can do easily without going through pages?

I never saw the lower part of the Register and was surprised to see them so open for a change.

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
my connection dropped for an hour this morning and when it come back online the modem had 8 downstream channels locked on. still there's only one upstream channel so I guess we will go down again for that at some point. I expect they may even beat the march - april estimate that they say for my area.
My internet seems a little faster with the extra downstreams now which is nice!

More likely to be a cabinet change rather than the speed upgrade..
