Not
"Can you confirm absolutely on VM's behalf" or " be an official source".
I only asked if he was sure of his opinion and what it's based on. It could just as well have been on a press release or an obscure page of the website I hadn't seen. I never asked for an official statement on behalf of the company. I don't see how this is unclear.

Re: 20 Mb/s to 30Mb/s free upgrade
We obviously read things differently - I believed "official source" was the bit you were concerned about (providing verification)......
My apologies.

For a speed upgrade that will soon be given out free to anyone who already has the kit, whether they paid for it or were given it free (upgraders or new customers, perhaps). VM have a funny way of trying to keep their long-term customers happy.

Not a problem. I'm beginning to see where the confusion is coming from now. I should probably have phrased it better.
All I wanted to know is if he was sure this was going to happen, and whether he found out through credible channels, vs., say, from the bloke down the pub, or just because thats how he thought it should happen (OK maybe implying a team member is thinking like telfordcable might not have been the brightest idea either )

Re: 20 Mb/s to 30Mb/s free upgrade
I work for VM and got it from a very reliable source.
Also there have now been a few of us telling you that it will happen so you'd think that would confirm we are not making it up or guessing.

Re: 20 Mb/s to 30Mb/s free upgrade
This threads gotten pretty big, any chance someone could summarise what's happening right now in one post? I did try to keep up until about post #300 but lost it until yesterday and finding it hard to wade through 800+ posts to find the info. Also finding a lot of contradicting stuff.
Basically want to know the following....
Is the upgrade available now to 20mb customers on old kit or am I just getting the superhub with hopes of being upgraded later? (i.e. Is the speed increase immediate once the new kit is installed or does that come once my area is switched over like with previous free upgrades?)
How is the upgrade paid? One-off card payment or added onto my bill?
Does this start a new contract? And if so What length?
Will me being only 6 months into my current contract hinder me in getting the upgrade? I know it normally wouldn't but I've seen mention of new 12 month contracts coming in with the upgrade as above.
Any difference in STM or is it the same as 20mb? (I assume same as 20mb will be the case).
Think that's everything I wanted to know. If anyone responds and they feel they have more relevant info that I haven't asked for feel free to add it to your reply.

As soon as you get the SuperHub you would get 30Mbit. What upload you get is dependent of the Faster Upload work being completed in your area

Added to the bill unless you have a Credit Limit and the changes would take you over it

Yes if you require new kit, for 12 months. (If anyone has an 18 month contract and has over 12 months to go on it then the end of the minimum term wouldn't change)

No, however depending on your current minimum term your broadband may remain under a new minimum term for longer than the other services

Differences are here http://shop.virginmedia.com/help/tra...nt-policy.html (As with the other services, a different upload policy applies depending if you have the faster upload or not)

I love it when an engineer rings and asks if he can call 3 hours before the allotted time window

Re: 20 Mb/s to 30Mb/s free upgrade
ok I got my superhub in and activated but I think something is wrong, I asked the lady on the other end is she 100% sure its working and she said yes but I need to wait 5 mins for the signal.
I only have one downstream channel locked, also for those curious my upstream is already docsis2 I think. 5120 symbole rate.

Re: 20 Mb/s to 30Mb/s free upgrade
Is the top light on your Superhub green? If its locked onto DOCSIS3 it would be blue, and judging by your internal stats it's currently locked onto DOCSIS2, hence the single channel.
