Re: Malaysian Airline plane disappears
I still think it is in the sea somewhere. I don't believe it managed to go inland without being detected....

Probably the most sense anyone has spoke about the matter since the news broke.
Landing gear fire and pilot turns towards the safest airfield to make an emergency landing but the crew are overcome with smoke and autopilot keeps them airborne until fuel exhaustion.

What if the plane is never found? This would be absolute torture for the families of those missing. Will they keep searching? I can't help thinking it might never be found, if it is in the sea ... I am in agreement with Damien, I think it is in the sea...

It may have been detected by military radar but countries in that area might not be willing to give away anything which might indicate the capabilities (or gaps) in their radar coverage.

A dearth of useful radar data in the search for missing Malaysia Airlines 3786.KU +2.13% Flight 370 has exposed both the weaknesses of regional air-defense systems and also a deep-seated reluctance to share military information.
While Malaysia's air force has drawn ire for its failure to track Flight 370 effectively in the early hours of March 8, military and aviation analysts say that other Asian countries have similar deficiencies.

Re: Malaysian Airline plane disappears
There can't be many 24 metre sized objects randomly floating out there but sources are saying these items are larger than what you'd expect from a plane having crashed at sea.

Re: Malaysian Airline plane disappears
But it is in the right place, at the southern most tip of the search area.
Theories are now that something happened on board, potentially a fire, the plane turned around, the pilots were incapacitated and the plane flew until it ditched in the Indian Ocean.
Perhaps the only piece of comfort may be that all the passengers may have been out when the plane hit.

Re: Malaysian Airline plane disappears
A double edged sword really. They'll have closure but any faint hopes they may have had that some could have survived (e.g. if the plane had deliberately been taken somewhere for some reason) will be dashed.
Very sad indeed either way. Let's just hope the answers are soon found and the families derive whatever small comfort they can from the truth.

We're coming to the end of this by the looks of things and, as to be expected, it's not going to have a happy ending: http://www.theguardian.com/world/201...s-live-updates

An Australian ship is trying to retrieve two objects spotted by search aircraft in the Southern Indian Ocean. HMAS Success, the only ship in the area, could retrieve the objects in the next few hours, or by tomorrow at the latest.

The following SMS message has been sent to relatives: "Malaysia Airlines deeply regrets that we have to assume beyond any reasonable doubt that MH370 has been lost and that none of those on board survived. As you will hear in the next hour from Malaysia's Prime Minister, we must now accept all evidence suggests the plane went down in the Southern Indian Ocean."

Malaysia Airlines has told the families of those on board the missing plane that relatives must assume MH370 has been lost.
The Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak is holding a news conference on the latest developments.
He said satellite data showed the plane was last recorded to be in the middle of the southern Indian Ocean.
"It is therefore with deep sadness and regret that according to this new data, flight MH370 ended in the southern Indian Ocean."

To be honest this is not about who found the evidence its more about finding the plane and giving the family's some real information
