So how have they come up with this 6.7% figure ? Think I've worked it out - it relates to line rental only, £14.99 to £15.99 is 6.7% ! How many customers just pay line rental ? So saying its an 'average' is an outright lie.
Somebody at VM must think they're very clever. However most of their customers aren't that stupid (well those that can work out percentages anyway...)

I see no evidence that this figure came from Virgin Media.
The figure comes from a BBC source, quoted in the first post in this thread.
It is, I would suggest, the BBC that did the same calculation as yourself and suggested 6.7% as the average increase to be applied across all services.
Happy to blame Virgin Media for what seem excessive increases but, unless you can find a direct Virgin Media source saying average 6.7%, the mis-information has come from the BBC.

Re: 6.7% Price Increase From February!
I accept what you say but can see no direct Virgin Media source for the figure.
As the Virgin Media website is now showing the new prices, you can work out the true percentages for the standard Collections, e.g. Premiere Collection was £62.99, now £67.99, 7.9%.

How about this:-
http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/broadban...-up-prices-too
".....from February customers will see cable bills increase, by 6.7% on average, so we’re looking to help them get more for their money," said the ISP
Extreme porky pies I think, unless VM have their own definition of average.
Which customers have seen an increase of less than 6.7% ? None that don't have line rental (in which case they don't have cable).

Those of us who have BB only products will not see any price rise in February. So zero is a good base line to create statistics.
Plus you can have cable without line rental. As of Friday all my services will be with SKY other than BB which will be with VM and no line rental to pay to VM.

10 - 15% price increase is extortionate.
but as I said before. everyone are just putting their prices up for the sake of it. to try and get as much money as they can.
no sooner will this one be over, then they'll come back for more.

it is
but there surely must be some improvements to the services in the pipeline other than more download speed on the broadband side?

Re: 6.7% Price Increase From February!
Mines going up 5.75pm
ive cancelled 08 phone add on so now its 3.75, my virgim mobiles expire in jan 2014 both are 18.05 each per month so one im cancelling got better deal at 16.99 per month and other been changed to sim only at 12 quid per month...
so my mobile change brings it to 2.70 but then other mobile saving of 6.05 minus the 2.70.
But come april.my discount expires and ill downgrade 120 bb to 60 since 60 is going to 120.
That will teach them to up the prices...

Re: 6.7% Price Increase From February!
I only have xxl broadband and medium phone, mine is going up by way more than 6.5%, I had the opportunity to sack VM a few weeks back but signed a 12 month contract, given the extortionate price rise do I have a case for cancelling? I refuse to subsidise VM's deal for BT sports, it's immoral in my view.

Agree its a disgrace bud, there is no justification for these big hikes.we are footing the bill for them buying vm and getting bt sports plain and simple

Re: 6.7% Price Increase From February!
4.06% for me, so to be fair there are some which come in below the average figure quoted. Still looking to reduce the cost though as just getting to be too expensive to justify.
