Re: Moans and Pet Hates
Follow up to the 'buying online' fiasco.
Spent 10 minutes on the phone trying to get through to a human at the bank.
10 minutes of a recorded voice telling me which wonderful services they can offer me, and the apps & websites to use.
10 minutes of me repeating * a certain naughty phrase* while waiting . . I read something online the other day about people giving abuse to AI, not surprised in the least . .
Anyway, eventually reached a pleasant woman who couldn't sort me out today . . . because after confirming all the security crap she threw at me that tied me to the account, I still need to be contacted by posted letter containing a code I have to ring back* and pass on to them.
*quite obviously another frustrating 10 minutes of uttering spectacular swear words at an inanimate object . . . such is life.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates
Why are you stressing out at your own doings? Bit mental no expecting different results

Re: Moans and Pet Hates
It's not 'my own doings' at all.
It's not me that decided I have to jump through hoops to spend my own money.
It wasn't me that thought making financial transactions online was easier and more secure than carrying cash . . until it wasn't.
It's not me that put in place 14 levels of security to access my bank account, yet it still wasn't good enough for them to act on.
I still like a modicum of control on how I live my life, not how the machines and their masters want me to live.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates
you want to buy something. You're the problem. Don't buy it and watch how it no longer becomes a problem.

Funnily enough that's what happened
However, the problem will occur the next time I try to purchase online . . I say online because nobody stocks anything now (apart from garbage)

That’s going well for you…
Strange - I pay for things online quite frequently, using 2 Factor Authentication, and don’t have any of these issues.
I think I can see a common factor/theme in your shopping issues…

Re: Moans and Pet Hates
I think what is holding Carth back is the age of their bank account and lack of use in more modern ways. I would personally consider setting up a new modern account that will be app based from the off. The lack of proper contact details means the delay while waiting for the 2FA via mail

Re: Moans and Pet Hates
So, the GP surgery managed to fit me and our twins in for flu jabs next week after cancellations.
But today I was called and told that mine is being postponed for another 3 weeks, as they only have enough jabs until midday that day. And they can't request another batch until ALL the ones they have have been used.
The missus is still housebound, and the GP will not do a house call to give her a jab.

My GP called me last month out of the blue and arranged a home visit for the flu jab on the 21st Oct. I must be lucky (or just unlucky to be put forward for it).
My wife is getting hers done at work in Nov via her company.

Why does nobody get that I don't want apps all over the phone, or a new state of the art bank account (lol)
You guys are happy with your aps and 6 levels of security, I'm happier if I can walk into a shop and pay cash (or use a debit card without revealing the story of my life)

See this is a YOU problem wanting to live in the dark ages, you're basically making your life difficult for yourself, having a banking app is extremely helpful and can stop fraud when it happens alot quicker.

Hey, knock it all you like but I know any emails or phone calls -supposedly - from the bank can safely be told to . . . do one
I'm saving a fortune by not being able to spend my own money

As far as watching (crap) on the TV goes, if you watch it you watch it, no matter how or when or by which convoluted method is chosen.
edit: Dogs don't need surnames, that's almost as bad as people naming their car Betsy or something

Re: Moans and Pet Hates
End of the day I simply wanted a computer desk . . . it's easier to get a damn shotgun license.
 . . there's an idea
edit: (for Hugh)
as mentioned earlier to thenry, this 'little' snag is going to occur again . . and again, and again, so I decided to simply (LMAO - simply) add my phone number to the account.
Yeah right, as if anything is simple now
