I agree the upgrade to 10Mb was only a few months ago
but surely this can't be fair - I seem to be paying £25 per month for my 'Broadband Size L'
Quote from Virgin Website >>>> Broadband size L - "£15 a month For the first 3 months, then just £20 a month after that."
I seem to be paying £5 per month above the advertised tarrif already
what is the current tarrif for a 2MB connection ?
ie should I ask for an immediate downgrade to the 2Mb tarrif in order that I can get a 'free' upgrade to the 10Mb tarif at a lower overall cost
I don't use the BB all that much - the TMS limits/differences would make no real difference to me - what I want is a fair and low cost
I am really confused by this

They will not downgrade you to 2Mb as that tier is no longer sold to customers.

As has been explained many many many times before. The list price that shows on EVERYONEs' bill for BB L is £25. This is the price before any discounts you have are applied. The £20 price ONLY applies to people with STANDALONE BB L which has (for some unknown reason) £5 of discounts.
If you are unhappy with your current price, post your Advance Charges from your bill here and someone will be along to advise if you are on a good deal or can get better.
Had you stuck to BB M 2Mb, your list price would now be £20 and you would be getting an upgrade in speed to 10Mb soon. The 10Mb BB M product is not the same product as the current 10Mb BB L which has a list price before discounts of £25.

Re: Free 2 to 10 upgrade
What is STB? I have a Motorola Surfboard SB4100 NTL Cable Modem. If NTL upgrade me from 2Mb to 10Mb will my current cable modem be suitable?
I was originally on 250Mb then 500Mb then 1meg then 2Mb with this cable modem.
What is the telephone number to NTL customer services on a SKY line? I don't have a NTL telephone line.

Re: Free 2 to 10 upgrade
STB is set top box, i.e. getting your broadband through the same box as yer TV
Not a clue whether it will be OK for 10meg, but VM will want to replace it as they seem to be standardising on the 256 modem.
VM customer services are 0845 454 1111 from a non-VM line, and technical support are the same. Or try the newsgroups at http://www.virginmedia.com/help/cable/newsgroups/

It can support 10Mb.
STB = Set Top Box what you also use for television reception.
Customer Services are on 0845 454 1111

Re: Free 2 to 10 upgrade
I know this is a bit off topic, but having now seen a surfboard in that image above, the Ambits look like cheap chinese toys, compared to it. Sorry, it had to be said.

But that modem no longer manufactured and Virgin only supply the Ambit 256 which is pretty good and if stood on its side has a smaller footprint.

You're right of course. VM are amateurs when it comes to selling things. These modems should be more imposing things with lots more lights to look at and buttons to fiddle with and ask about in expensive phonecalls to customer support. They should be the size of the boxed stargate collection and weigh more than a house brick and because you'll have to return them by special courier (costing £24.99)in a special carton (£4.99) you'll think twice before cancelling your subscription with us wont you!

I know this is a bit off topic, but having seen this reply of yours above, I think you need your eyes tested. Sorry, it had to be said.

Re: Free 2 to 10 upgrade
Why would you return a modem, VM don't collect those anymore.
