Just seen the schedules for ITV3 in the Radio Times and it looks like it's going to be one of the better digital channels.
I guess it's all down to personal preference, some will prefer the kiddie/sci-fi fare on Sky One, others the laddish/yob violence on Bravo, or perhaps the supernatural goings on at Living TV. But the more discerning viewer may actually want to watch quality tv, and apart from maybe the terrestrial channels, Hallmark or the BBC digital channels, there's very little of that on TV today.
Can't comment on anywhere other than where I live and work. But I've certainly noticed an increase in the number of people getting ntl recently, several of them cancelling Sky in the process (no surprises there, I did). Could be many reasons for this, the local channel (best local news in the uk) is not on Sky (or even freeview) and is heavily advertised in the local press as being exclusive to ntl (or via analogue terrestrial, but very few can receive a half decent reception), not to mention local ads offering better deals than sky including the family pack for £19.50 with 12 months free phone line rental. etc. ITV3 is just another nail in Sky's coffin, but the death blow will be in 2005, and the introduction of VOD.

Re: [Merged] ITV3-coming to ntl??
ntl sometimes have adverts in the radiotimes. for the family pack and free phone line.
and sometimes, ntl have an advert cover over our local newspaper, offering all the services and all the BOGOFs.
ntl do advertise, but not much. they add plenty of customers each quarter anyway, so the ads they do are enough (for now?)

Just had a glimpse ... the line-up is vaguely reminiscent of G-Plus, except the programmes aren't nearly as old. There is very little 'ITV Drama' that interests me, but I might find the odd programme to watch on it.
As for the death of $ky ... I don't think ITV3 is a nail in anybody's coffin. It would have to have a schedule full of the kind of original programming that a large number of $ky's core sub base would actually want to watch before any significant numbers of people would switch (basically, it would have to be like Sky One, and that aint gonna happen).
And a death blow? I think not. Sky is here to stay, for the forseeable future anyway. VOD will be nice to have, but absolute must-have? And don't forget that half the UK is probably never even going to be able to get cable TV.

A commet by Proppin' over on digitalspy would suggest that it won't appear until the launch, or at least the day of the launch

Re: [Merged] ITV3-coming to ntl??
Ok so would we see a place holder by now? Because every time I tap in 118 on my remote, it goes back to the channel I've just switched from which tells me IMO that 118 doesn't exist.
