Re: New Speed Upgrades 8th March. (Part 3)
Still nothing here despite me ringing CS six times and each time getting a different idiot with a different answer. With responses ranging from getting the phone hung up on me by a mad bat to 'you'll be upgraded next month' and the classic 'you'll be upgraded today', not forgetting my all time fave of 'I've sent it through, you'll get it in an hour'(twice).
I've seen at least four other people on here from Belfast get their upgrade so why didn't mine upgrade?
EDIT: I forgot about the Welsh guy who told me I'd need to wait for a special offer in my area to get upgraded....

Now, people in general. NTL will probably be upgrading everyone soon. I shouldn't think they will roll out the upgrade to everyone nationally as that could generate an incredible amount of calls as STBS and Cable Modems fail (according to various NTL employees I have talked to, some boxes do fail while being upgraded).
I know it's frustrating, but I do think (for me anyway) the result is worth the wait.

THB Phil, the internal announcement we had in ntl said the upgrades could take a couple of months all in all. I think (for sacm users at least) it's more likely to be a couple of days. You can ring CS if you like, but I doubt it'd get you very much further. If you can be patient for a day or so, I'm sure your upgrade will be along in no time

Re: New Speed Upgrades 8th March. (Part 3)
Question for anyone that may know: -
I'm in Leeds, and not sure if we've been upgraded yet (not too bothered since I go on holiday in 2 days anyway).
But, due to an NTL c0ck up when they disconnected me, I was reconnected as a "new customer" with a discount, so I'm getting 750k service at 19.99 for 12 months.
I'm assuming that the "automatic" upgrade whenever it happens will not affect my discount, but if I click the magic 2Mb button, will my bill increase to 24.99?

I find it amazing that normally all the moaners are saying they have to wait an eternity for someone at NTL to answer the phone but today nearly everyone is saying that it is answered immediately. Very strange this turnaround in response times, particularly as there are so many calling once, twice or more times to try to get a different answer to what they have already been given. Could a lot of call waiting times have been slightly exaggerated in the past?
I can't believe how many times the same questions are being asked today, sometimes several times within a page of posts. I think that NTL should cut back on all these free upgrades as the prospect of getting them appears to be removing brain cells from a lot of customers.

Personally I would expect it to stay at the price you have been given the service at for the period stated but you will get a clearer answer from CS. Can't lose anything by asking them to clarify what you will pay if you have been given a discount for 12 months on your contract.

Re: New Speed Upgrades 8th March. (Part 3)
I am delighted with my upgrade to 3mb, on a SACM in Manchester.
I am even more delighted to see the largely positive responses in this thread.
I am further delighted still to observe that this one of the best things the company has done for a long time, and better still they have got it by and large spot on.
We've even got people saying they got through to customer services quickly and got dealt with professionally.
Is this a parallel universe I've entered?
Be interesting to see what Neil thinks of it all!
