the "press red" icon appeared on langley BBC 1 in Langley during a break for D-Day (and advert for D-Day) but when i pushed it only the non transparent bridge appeared...oh well. at least i saw the logo

The "press red" you refer to was broadcast to all services, as i saw it on one D-Day advert when I was watching through Analogue Terrestrial.

When I turned on the television this evening I got the message that the software had been "updated" (this is in Reading). When you step through the channels on the mini guide there is a noticeable delay between the channel name and the current programme being updated, then another delay before the next programme is updated. Is there any valid reason why NTL decided to arbitrarily redefine what button does what on the remote control? That is particularly annoying.

Is it time for me to get annoyed? Since the upgrade, I too have been experiencing some of the problems already highlighted, but just lately it seems to be worse! Slow epg etc; epg not loading, "BAUKM" error message and so on. This past weekend it got worse; Box read 305, tv showing Q Music??; Sunday afternoon the stb display is flashing all sorts of numbers & symbols (a reboot cleared it!) and on Monday morning switched it on, display says 704 tv showing CNBC Europe.

I make a call to CS (polite & sympathetic response) need an engineer they say, unfortunately the "system" was down and they could not book a visit directly, but promised to pass on my details for the service dept to contact me directly. No call Monday!

On Tuesday I call again and tell CS about no call back on Monday. CS rep tries to get to the "screen" to book me an engineer visit, but the system is down. The CS Rep gets a colleague to try (in case it is her machine) but that did not work; she did promise to speak with the service Dept and get back to me. As promised, she called back to say that she has asked them to treat me as a priority, and to call me directly. No call!

Today I go through the same process; describe the fault and tell them that I was expecting a call "as a priority". Again the "system" would not let them access the appointments screen, but they would get someone to call me back........ I am still waiting!!

When should I get annoyed about this? I am not having a "dig" at the helpful ntl people that visit this site, on the contrary, I am hoping to benefit from their wisdom!

Not sure if this is related to the upgrade, but I've never seen it happen before the upgrade so I am forced to wonder.

News 24 was on in the background, interviewing an American politician about Ronald Reagan when suddenly there was the theme tune to "Minder", obviously a little out of place so I turned round to look at the telelvision.

Despite the fact that the cable box was still showing 125 on the display, it was outputting Paramount Comedy 2 and refused to respond to any button presses. About 20 seconds later it sorted itself out and went back to News 24.

I hope this is a one off and not indicative of a bug in the software.

Sadly, that was probably the new, improved 1.10 screen blanking, now complete with random channel changing.

I didn`t pay attention to what time it happened, if I have the television on at that time tonight I`ll be sure to make a note of it.

I know if you get infinite monkeys typing you can end up with Shakespeare, perhaps that is the approach that NTL take to getting their STB software written.

If you are lucky. My box is normally left on News 24 overnight. Everytime I`ve come back to it the next day the News 24 channel (125) is showing something completely random.

Is anyone else still finding the interface painfully slow.

Didn't developers / psychologists work out optimum response times to ensure people could ascertain that it was working.

Should I call tech support or is this still a nationwide problem?

It's been a while since I looked at this thread but just wondered if someone from NTL can comment on where we are up to on the CR3 rollout to original NTL areas please?

I only ask because as far as I know a number of other things were going to happen once CR3 was working fully on both Bromley & Langley platforms.

There was supposed to be the auto-sort software for the EPG, Maintenance Release 2, Enhanced TV to mention but three.

Would anyone from NTL care to comment now that Moneypenny has disappeared from our midst please?

Well I thought E-TV was here. Might have been dreaming through the whole Euro 2004 and Wimbledon thing though.

On a side note has anyone else noticed the program info going missing has stopped happening. I've not seen this for a couple of weeks now.

When I reboot in the event log should I get a message saying: "Failed to get login params" as on of the events?

And what the hell does 'Lost IB Lock' mean? That happens every few minutes?

It means you changed channels. The IB lock is it locking on to a channel stream.

I still get missing programme info along with the occassional BAUKM error, which I'm told is related to the missing programme info. The last I heard is that ntl: have identified the cause of this but it will need an update, which means L3.2 I guess (maybe at the end of this year?).
