You're mistaking the people who go to home internationals for proper die-hard singing fans. In the case of Northern Ireland it's different, your ground holds maybe 20k tops, so the majority of the fans there will be hardcore fans that will sing. OT holds over 67k, of which maybe 10k max will be hardcore England fans who will sing. So they get watered down by the silence of the others. The Welsh had the same problem at the weekend. We took 6800 fans there (Actually had 15k apply for tickets) and for the large part we outsang the welsh because their hardcore of fans is a lot smaller and the rest of the crowd only perked up to boo GSTQ.

Wish I was going, but I was away for some of the earlier matches and couldn't justify the expense. (The IFA made a smart decision in that if you wanted tickets for the England game you needed to buy tickets for the other 4 home games.)
|
As it should be. Small ground and only those who attend regularly should get the tickets. Only the top cappers from the EnglandFans will be going to NI on Wednesday + those lucky in the ballot. We only got 1300 tickets. I didn't apply as I'm off to Florida at the end of the week. I'm sure you could have got a ticket if you really wanted one. I know some Enlgand fans have got tickets in the NI end.

There is a difference between really wanting one, and being able to afford one. They are going for £150 - £200 on ebay. I can't afford that.

Beg, borrow, steal. It's one of your few chances to get one over on us.

And given England's recent performances I'd say victory for N Ireland has never looked more sure!

Watch it, boyo
At least we didn't have to worry about Nobby Savage tripping over thin air and starting a fight with himself this time

No, you just have the entire Arsenal* contingent to worry about
*Arsenal - a team whose supporters only appear on Cable Forum when their teams win something

Very good point
/Nug reminisces about the days when Villa actually had English internationals in their team.
/Nug then remembers that we sold Vassell, and he still isn't scoring any goals

Re: The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season
I don't know if anyone noticed this from last weekend!
I cannot believe everyone involved with the team didnt realise this happened or was going to happen. Surely either the player or the manager would realise

Yes, that does seem a bit of an unfortunate oversight
