I'm wondering why though, if we are getting a free speed increase, it is so dependent on a new/updated billing system?

Re: [Merged] NTL Increasing BB Speeds Late Summer 2004

Punky - I guess cos if they're changing the rates/speeds people are on, they'll want to reflect it on the bill - so people are bing charged for "1 x 750k broadband" it will appear properly on the bill. If they do that after the bills system is united into one, then they only have to change it once, meaning there'd be much less chance of it going wrong!

Other thing might be if all the techies are working on moving the bills systems together they wont be able to work on any problems the speed increases would bring up...

There is a lot going on within NTL at the moment besides Harmony. I would imagine that CR3 rollout is keeping many Associates busy.

i think it's because the telewest network is in a far better condition than the ntl one. plus, telewests network is 1/2 the size as ntl's.
and telewest seem to be far more efficient than ntl at doing anything, and are very quick to make changes.

Hmmmm a member of C/S being given information for something that is going to happen in the future? Why am I a little bemused? Maybe NTL has decided to actually keep its' staff informed better now............... Nah lol
Lets hope for July 1st but be prepared for "Coming Soon"

Re: [Merged] NTL Increasing BB Speeds Late Summer 2004

This has prob already been answered and i appolagize but what will happen to the stb users, as every1 knows stb are crap for speeds of 1mb/s and higher so 1.5mb/s will be a joke to all stb users

Yorkiex - if your STB is the cause of your slow speeds, you could always ask them to pop round and install a seperate cable modem, that should fix it

Re: [Merged] NTL Increasing BB Speeds Late Summer 2004

Yorkiex I have asked NTL about this as I get BB through an STB, they have said there will be no problems with the speed increase as the latest software has sorted the problem out with the 4000 boxes and the faster BB speeds....I had a 4000 awhile ago and had it changed for a 2000 stb which thankfully has given me no trouble with BB

Re: [Merged] NTL Increasing BB Speeds Late Summer 2004

i haven't read through the thread's 40 pages, so apologies if this has been posted already...

http://www.ntl.com/locales/ie/en/pre...lay.asp?id=719 says

Quote:
Customers who sign up from August will be able to choose between:

†¢ A 300kbps broadband service for just â‚ ¬25 per month.

†¢ A 750kbps broadband service for just â‚ ¬35 per month.

†¢ A 1.5Mb broadband service for just â‚ ¬50 per month.
i've also read reports on the same story which say the 1st of august. given that both irish and uk customers download the same config files from the same server, i'd say this is your answer
