In terms of actual day to day useage, I would rather this than go back to Virgin. Youtube works, iplayer works, I can use iplayer HD etc etc etc
If it werent for the disconnects it would be fine. Im guessing by the fact that it gets worse in the rain that the cab is leaking

It won't be the cab it will be a duff joint in your final 100m or so of twisted pair. Given how useless Openreach are you'll need the patience of Job and plenty of luck getting it fixed. It was a rubbish BT line that drove me to cable. Maybe one day there will be reliable consumer internet connectivity....

I had one of those perfect lines when I was on ADSL with VM. It was really good. I was on 8meg ADSL at full speed with VM for a price that their Cable side could only offer with a 4meg connection at the time. Then the line went bad and BT moved me to another twisted pair. My ADSL speed went through the floor and stayed there. I moved over to Cable then rather than fight with BT. I would fight them, if VM ever give me reason to leave, and I would win. Who has the time for that though, when VM engineers are such great folk? They've always been excellent for me. I'm not so sure about some of their advertising guys on occasion, who have never been entirely wedded to certain concepts such as 'honesty' or 'legallity', but the engineers they send out are easily the best available that I am aware of. In my experience anyway. I'm sure there will be bad examples out there, but the hit rate is really good for me.

Ah the good ol' lift & shift. We'll see where the problem is then I guess.
If it's the cab at fault, I'd have expected lots of people in the area to be complaining - unless most people don't notice their line resetting 40 times a day and speed getting halved, which would be disappointing...

craig with all due respect you cant tell if you have a perfect line. Clearly it isnt perfect if its dropping out.
It could be your modem, but my money is on a line issue between the cab and your house. It could be noise interference (most likely) or could be something like a joint fault.
