I don't think that's appropriate. Those who use the term 'coloured' usually mean someone who is not white (I'm not justifying it's use).

So this could mean someone with black, brown, yellow etc skin.

My OH is British/Indian, there are some who would call her coloured (she'd smack them upside the head if they did) but calling her black would not be correct either.

I didn't say you called white people murderers but you likened all white people to two very well known racist murders.

So what exactly was your point when you wrote:

Quote:
Oh white people of today are so so different from white people of yesterday year cough Gary Dobson cough David Norris...
Who are they representative of other than a small proportion of violent prejudiced thugs just like those of other races who've attacked and/or killed people simply for having a different skin colour?

So what does she like to be called then?

a white person regardless of nationality is called white.
a black non Asian is called black.
an Asian is usually referred to as Asian.

Damn, I forgot the Indians.

Re: Diane Abbott apologises in 'race' row

Still has not changed my view that Ms Abbott should go and quickly.

For expressing those views on a very public forum bearing in mind the job she does, and she does obviously represent both black and white constituents in a very diverse area.

Public figures especially elected ones need to be very careful.

don't be sorry 20 -30yrs ago we had to call black people coloured .It's not your fault that people are so sensitive about their skin colour they need to be categorised into colours .It's very confusing using the term black people because many people included in that term are not in fact black

Yes i do find people are very sensitive, and yes i remember 20-30 years ago you did have to use the word coloured as black was considered a no no .

And in the US if you use the word black you are liable to be smashed around as they prefer the term "people of colour".

Its sometimes really hard due to senstivety issues to know what words do not cause offense in the UK in 2012 but i tried.

In fairness, you are the one that made the claim so the responsibility of providing evidence falls on yourself.

Otherwise it just looks like you're putting your opinion forward as fact. As an example I could say 'kingll is a burglar, I can't prove it but I know it's true'. Obviously I am not suggesting you are, but making strong claims without backing them up means nothing.
Problem with that argument is you are not my employer and if i was sacked for breech of my offices code of conduct. I'm sure i wouldn't get any sympathy from anyone on this forum for providing information that should not have been seen outside of my place of work.

So i do need not, put forward any evidence to you or anyone.

Also you calling me burglar, to prove it sir would be quite funny and a waste of your time and the word slander comes to mind also.

Funny though you are the only person that has picked at that paragraph and nobody else has - so you may not be talking for the majority but just yourself, I’m just sayin’

That's fine. Just don't expect anyone to believe you or take your claims seriously.

Exactly - so can you see the problem with making a strong claim without proof?

Russ really, do you think I really care what you think? i expressed something if you don't believe what i say, that 's fine.

Er nah Russ, as in your example you are accusing me of being something that is slander on the other hand me stating events I have seen is totally different.

where your evidence Russ?

I am using the example of the problems that arise when people make claims without any proof. I did not say you were a burglar.

I agree ,in my opinion she is the local black communities worst enemy .She works on the assumption that there is a divide between blacks and whites instead of looking to see if there actually is a problem that needs addressing .

I have read the tweets through half a dozen times and still can't find any justification for her making that comment .The journalist she was talking to was commenting about people using the term "black community" and the "black community leaders" being out of touch with the people they represent so where does the "white people love to divide and rule" comment have any relevance in that context other than to deliberately stir up ill feeling towards white people

I know what your saying, however, it doesn't apply imo

as i said you used it as an example and I said it was slanderous
