It's a power cable that will cost MS pennies, so they should have included it.

I'm interested to see how the bundle comes, because Gamestation didn't know if it was just both solo items being sold together, but then this would mean a different SKU for Kinect without the power cable, or if they will come together in their own packaging.

They should not have included it as it is not required by the new console.

The 360 kinect bundles all come in one box.

There must be demand for it, because MS have already released it as a standalone accessory:

http://store.microsoft.com/microsoft...oduct/9A4CFC08

$35, so £35 then.

Re: Kinect (Project Natal) Xbox 360 - No Strings (or Controllers) Attached

Gamestation text me today to let me know my in-store bundle is ready to collect from tonight's midnight launch and my posted on Saturday online order is now actually in transit, so they did sit on them until today, which was what I expected.

I have come to the decision that I will be returning the online order to the store for a refund, as it was my backup and I wanted to use my in-store credit towards the bundle, and I will not be purchasing my in-store order and will get a refund on my deposit.

I can't make use of the controls I was interested in and I have no interest in the Zune bloatware. You don't get a power cable with the bundle, which ties Kinect to the S and means I'll have to buy the $35 power cable, so probably at least £29.99 when they release the UK version, to be able to use it with my old 360. If I really do want it all later down the line, I might as well buy both solo items.

Re: Kinect (Project Natal) Xbox 360 - No Strings (or Controllers) Attached

It would have to come with one...

The only reason the Kinect + 360 bundle has no power adapter is that is does not need one, as the 360 S has a Kinect port.

Standalone Kinect units could be purchased for use with an "S" or an old-style 360, so need a power adapter.

Re: Kinect (Project Natal) Xbox 360 - No Strings (or Controllers) Attached

I caved in and collected my Gamestation bundle yesterday, although I didn't open it until later in the evening as I was still deciding whether I really wanted it or not, and I can't believe how much room Kinect needs.

My 360 is in the kitchen, which is quite spacious, and the initial setup had me standing about 8 feet away from the sensor. The problem with this position is room to the left, right and above. On my left is the breakfast bar and about 1 foot above my head is a ceiling beam, the only one and it's the lowest ceiling point in the kitchen. Both of these present problems: lack of left space means not enough room for two players and the beam above my head will easily be hit when jumping and arm swinging.

I'm going to play around with the Kinect Tuner tonight and see what I can do, before I pack it all up and return it.

Re: Kinect (Project Natal) Xbox 360 - No Strings (or Controllers) Attached

Why are you planning on returning it?

Would they still give you a full refund if it's been used?

-------------------

I'm sort of tempted by Kinect, but I think mainly due to the "new gadget factor".

I'm tempted too, but I don't think I will until it drops to under a £100.

Re: Kinect (Project Natal) Xbox 360 - No Strings (or Controllers) Attached

Yeah, £100 is certainly the "sweet spot". I'm surprised MS launched it at what seems to me the rather odd price of £130, rather than £99.

I know a few people on other forums with the Kinect, & they love it.

Still... I loved my Wii when I first got it, & it rarely gets used now.

I'll give it a while, see if the price drops & see what other games come out. Also be interesting to see if/when MS update the dashboard to allow you to use Kinect to control other things such as DVDs & streamed videos. That'd be more use than using it for Zune Marketplace content!

Apparently the innerds cost £35 so even though there's R&D to pay for it looks like there is some room for movement in the price.

I'm returning it because I don't have enough room to use it in single player, let alone two player, and the gloss finish of Kinect and the console is awful; all you have to do is look at it and it gets scratched and that's before all the dust in the house has attached itself to it and fingerprints are all over it. I wonder why Sony stopped making the PS3 in gloss. The S console isn't that much smaller than the old console and it wasn't much quieter than my old Premium console either, whether it's the power pack or the console, one of them was making enough noise that I wouldn't describe the S as whisper quiet.

I've e-mailed Gamestation about returning it and am waiting for a reply.

Nice idea but a bit restricting, interested in the drivers for using it on a pc though

So you are returning it mainly cause it is shiny and you think it scratches easily? haha you better not tell Gamestation that.
