Re: Football Season 2011/12
i view the Dalglish event in a similar way to the Mcleish sacking.
Mcleish was hired without support from the fans, purely on owners instinct.
Dalglish was largely taken based on fan support, but never thought he was best man for the job.
There is a balance, and i'm not sure it was done in both cases.
Appease the fans by all means, but ultimately it is owners money, not the fans
Now, Martinez seems to be wanted by both clubs.

Dalglish says
"I am disappointed with results in the league, but I would not have swapped the Carling Cup win for anything as I know how much it meant to our fans and the club to be back winning trophies"
Do you agree denphone?
i would swap the cup for third place, 2nd, 1st in premier league
i'd swap for FA cup
Maybe even 4th, if I got champions league place

I'll go even further...if Liverpool played exciting football every week..I'd swap the cup.
but..i am not a liverpool supporter..maybe now days they are happy with an occassional cup..and crap football

Not really an issue in general but various fan groups seem to have taken offence to this and particularly the fact that US owners did this and it was done in the US.

It wasn't a pop. I am repeating a well documented story in the papers. It was LFC fans that had the issue. For most clubs this kind of thing would have passed without any notice.

Whilst it was nice to win a trophy l would have swapped it for a place in the Champions League to start with but also l want Liverpool to play progressive and expansive football and at the moment we are nowhere near that so yes he had to go for that and several other reasons.

l think it was very important that Arsenal secured RVP on a new contract as it sends a good message to supporters that they are willing to break the bank to secure RVP on a new contract plus it sends a good message to potential targets that Arsenal are still a ambitious club.

Re: Football Season 2011/12
i am not disappointed...a strong arsenal isn't a bad thing.
Man city can buy another striker
For next season (by the way, who will start that thread, and when?), maybe we can have Man city 1st, arsenal 2nd...and Liverpool 3rd.
Ok ok, i was only kidding about liverpool, but..stranger things have happened

Lets finish this season first as we have a CL final yet and remember the transfer window for next season does not open for another two weeks yet either.
