Re: New Speed Upgrades 8th March. (Part 3)
just been on the phone to them yet again... 2 people said exsisting cusomters dont get it yet full stop... where as another 2 said that they could do it for me and tried doing it both said it should be working now (and didnt) and they also confirmed upgrading online...
...i just tried doing it online and got the unable to identify cm error.
so i thought id try again... but this time i go back to it and it lists the available upgrade speeds and now tells me iam currently on the 2mb service and gives me the chance to get 3mb. (see attachement)
should this now mean iam on the 2mb speed as before it gave me an error?

I would assume that theres someone like bbking logging in to the servers and running a script that sends out the config files and reboots the modems.
|
T'aint me, squire, but I do know the guys responsible and they seem to have done a bang-up job. The procedure is broadly as outlined, however - bung new config files on DHCPs and either bulk reboot a load/wait for people to upgrade as determined by Management.

Re: New Speed Upgrades 8th March. (Part 3)
Just got off the phone to a CS rep in (what sounded like, anyway) India. She didnt sound as if she knew what I was talking about, and after being on hold for 3-4 minutes while she checked she came back and said her system had crashed, and could I call back later.
I get the following error when pressing the "upgrade to 2mb" link that is floating around:
The username (xxxx) entered is not the registered subscriber associated with this cable modem. Please go back and try again with your cable modem username and password. If you need further help, please contact our customer support (0800 052 2000).
What department do I call? I picked CM Tech Support Fault dept, or something like that.

Re: New Speed Upgrades 8th March. (Part 3)
The rep I spoke to sounded like she was in India and didnt have a clue either....I then got transferred to a midlands call centre I think who told me that the upgrade wasn't possible over the phone.
Tempted to ring back and try again. But this time go with "i'm trying to upgrade my speed but the upgrade system can't find my mac address" rather than "can you upgrade me please!"

They told us we would have to wait but then we managed to get it done via the online link It is available in the area no matter what they tell you on the phone

Re: New Speed Upgrades 8th March. (Part 3)
On the phone to NTL CS, and a really sweet sounding girl just shocked herself by noticing that 2mb is available!
I quote: "When did this start?!"
UNBELIEVEABLE.
Just waiting to see if I get upgraded!
