Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8
My pacemaker replacement now scheduled for 17 Oct. This is my mum's birthday and the first since dad died in April. Have the MRSA swab test also booked in. One good thing is this is now at 1000 rather than 0900 so getting to hospital is less difficult.

You will let me know how you go on with the replacement!
Knowing what's involved could ease my mind when the time comes.
(Mine being the MRI compatible one)

Good luck with the op.
Today was a bad day at work. Store did no prep, and find out that someone has made a formal complaint against me of sexual harassment. Now facing a disciplinary meeting for it. Great.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8
Mark not being funny but your work sounds a terrible place to work as in all my years of being in employment I have never witnessed someone having as much bad luck as you seem to have.
Mark try and worry not about this as it could be something as simple as telling a dirty joke and that person overhearing it, thus making the person who has made the complaint against you feeling uncomfortable or saying to someone your looking good in where they have totally misinterpreted this (it has been known) if your work decides to call you in for a meeting I would ask very calmly keeping my voice in a low even tone at all times.
Who made the charges?
What are the specifics of the charges?
What dates did the alleged harassment occur?
Were there any witnesses to the harassment?
What type of evidence, if any, do they have against you?
Mark take notes with you into the meeting that way you will not forget anything, after the meeting ask for a copy of the minutes of the meeting and whatever you do, do not sign or say anything without advice.
Do not be aggressive or angry when asking the above, also, do not directly speak to the person who has made these allegations against you. If you need to work beside this person make a request at the meeting that your requesting that your never left alone with this person as you now feel uncomfortable working beside them due to the false allegations.
If you feel yourself about to lose it during any meeting then I would ask to be excused as you need the toilet, use this time wisely to calm down.
This is the advice that I would give to any one male or female.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8
Great advise weenie. Mark you must be careful over this as if your employer accepts that you have done or said something inappropriate it will be noted permanently in your personnel file. Along with the potential to lose your job any future employer could well be informed and it could easily screw up any future employment.
Keep your calm as weenie says and DO NOT APPROACH THE OTHER EMPLOYEE.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8
Worst news possible in regards to my lovely dog. What matters now is making whatever time he has left pain free, loved and take each week then day as it comes while following the vets advice.
My youngest is devastated, while hubby and I suspected that it would be bad news, we never expected the vet to say nothing could be done heartbroken. We asked if we were doing the right thing and he said if it was his dog he would be doing exactly the same as us.
At the moment we're just going to treasure every day we have left with him, I know some may think he's only a dog but he's my dog and I love him.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8
So sorry to hear about the family dog weenie as my thoughts are with you.
Those who say it is only a pet obviously have no idea of the special bond and love that develops between a pet and their owners as they become very much part of the family and the wonderful memories and enjoyment they give are certainly something that is cherished when they are alive and sadly when they pass away.

Sorry to hear about your dog weenie. I hope you get some quality time with him. My sister was in a similar position and even abandoned holiday plans to extend the time she had with her dog.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8
Thanks everyone and that is exactly that, he is our dog and we got him from the cat and dog home to live in his forever home in where he quickly settled into family life.
Yesterday he went in for a scan and the vet discovered many tumors in him. The vet did not do a biopsy, he was not willing to do a biopsy for two reasons and what he told us was the main reason was he feared our dog would bleed to death as he felt he may not have been able to stop the bleed therefore to risky, then went on to say what he was 99.9% certain what we were facing due to the scan results and his symptoms.
The vet is 99.9% certain our dog has prostate cancer and unfortunately is a very invasive and aggressive disease. Hubby discussed all options with the vet and decided to bring him home with the medication he needs with the understanding this will not prolong his life but give him a better quality of life hopefully.
Many tears last night as we know we only have a very short time left with him but we will continue to put what is best for him, no matter how hard.
Today my heart is breaking every time I look at my youngest I see he has been crying then I look at my dog and the tears just flow. I have looked at his post-operative care instructions and the vets notes and he has lost 1kg since his last weigh in, he is now 18.7kg, body condition score (BCS) 4/9 which now means for the first time in his life he is under weight.
I have stopped Googling - How long does a dog have to live with prostate cancer?
I have also stopped asking myself could I have noticed any sooner but how could I as we have taken him to the vet monthly sometimes twice a month so far this year as it just seemed to be one thing after another. He just seemed to be getting one thing sorted then another new symptom would appear and I cannot help think are these all related, did I miss anything.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8
Oh weenie I am so sorry to hear your news. Loosing a loved member of the family is so hard on everybody. I am assuming that the vet has ensured that any pain is going to be banished or at the very least reduced. I have gone through this so many times with the cats I have fostered and it never gets easier but what I have found is that once their pain is under control my feline friends have enjoyed their last few weeks, sleeping more and not being as ready to take on the world but happy. I guess their not understand what is happening is a blessing.
Make the most of these last days/weeks. Remember that he will pick up on the feelings of those people who he has come to love and trust. So try to stay calm and make sure he gets lots of hugs and and treats, when the time comes to give him his release then, remember these last few loving moments with a smile knowing that you have all done your very best to try to make the end of his life as happy as he was when he came to live with you all.
